Dalfin Bramblethorn

While making their way to Noor, The Party came across a bedraggled and unkempt Halfling, who begged the party for some coin or some 'sugar'.   Warto O'Malley decided that the group should taunt Dalfin by tying him to a horse and dragging him through the forest for a while. Not too far up the road they came across Hinrich Thiel who asked them if they'd seen a halfling around - as the halfling had stolen from them and they wanted to take back what he had. The party decided to lie and tell Hinrich that they had seen nobody.   After that, Dalfin revealed that those men worked for 'The Baron', an underground crime lord in Noor. He revealed that he had taken a 'loan' from this baron, most of which he had spent on 'sugar', but the rest of which he intended on using to establish a thieves guild in the city.   The party allowed him to leave their side as they approached the city, and he told them that should they write the thieves cant symbol for 'Home' on the back of The Percival tavern that they would be able to get in touch with them - and that soon he may have some work they could get involved in.   It transpired, however, that the party would find him first. After fighting their way through the sewers under the city, the party eventually retrieved the daggers that Nordbert Cotton had asked them to get. In the sewer they found the entrance to the thieves guild hideout. After getting in, they were confronted by four hooded figures who pointed arrows at them - one of which promptly revealed himself to be Dalfin. The rest of the figures, then revealed to be Izak Cossmann, Dexa Bindevar, and Tula Obinsk, then relented and allowed the party into the hideout - after Dalfin vouched for their character.   He appeared in the hideout to be the least involved with it's maintenance, Dexa had built constructs in their defence, and Tula had enchanted various puzzles and traps to slow the progress of would-be invaders. Dalfin appeared to be less involved with this aspect, preferring to follow Dexa around and, although well intentioned, get in her way. He didn't get too involved in discussing the next moves as Izak Cossmann entreated the party into bringing Hinrich Thiel to the hideout in an attempt to negotiate with him.    When The Party arrived with Hinrich Thiel and, unexpectedly, Nordbert Cotton, his position was in hiding to fight from range with his crossbow when the ambush was sprung. He could not keep his position, however, when he saw Tordenn Kasios attacking Dexa Bindevar, electing to try and defend her at great risk to himself.    Despite his best efforts, however, he saw as Juan killed her, to his enormous distress.    Perhaps mercifully, his grief was short lived - as he was quickly killed by a poisoned dagger belonging to Hinrich Thiel, who quipped to Tordenn that "Don't worry, I found him", prior to plunging the dagger into his chest - hinting at his knowledge that the party had hid Dalfin from him outside Noor.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Nothing is known of Dalfin's personal history, only that he came to the thieves guild at the same time as Dexa Bindevar, who he had travelled to Noor with from their home of Korosk.   He had a fondness for Sharpsugar, and unfortunately for him this seemed to curtail much of his potential, and he seemed very much a follower amongst the members of the guild.   He seemed to have a great fondness for Dexa Bindevar, whom he followed around most of the time. From what could be seen this was unrequited on her part. This extended to the very end of both of their lives as he fruitlessly rushed to save her - only to witness her death at the hands of Juan, immediately prior to his own death at the hands of Hinrich Thiel.

Personality Characteristics

Likes & Dislikes

Likes 'Sugar' Dislikes being dragged behind horses, and The Baron.

Social

Social Aptitude

Dalfin seems to be quite charismatic and socially adept, managing to convince The Party quickly that he was more use to them alive than dead. Despite being the first one to suggest that Dalfin be dragged behind them tied to a horse (seemingly for no other reason than to taunt him), Warto O'Malley quickly seemed to warm to him.

Speech

When under the influence of 'sugar', Dalfin (much like observed in Arun Toole), speaks quickly with a quick flight of ideas and very few stops to breathe.
