Physical Description
Physical Appearance
April is a black teenager with bob-length locs that are dyed a nice red ombre. She's on the shorter side with an average build and a soft round face and big eyes.
April likes to dress in sporty fashion, despite not being into sports (outside of tennis team). Her go to outfit is a purple crew cut tee and jeans under a yellow and black track jacket. She also often wears her favorite pair of hiking sneakers.
Mental characteristics
April is a NYC native, born in the city in 2005. Her parents Carol and Kirby were both in STEM fields, her father an agricultural professor at a community college and her mother a security code engineer. They encouraged April to strive to be a well informed and educated person from a young age, and taught her of lot of what they knew. She has always did well in school to impress her parents, quickly becoming the perfect A+ student through her entire school life, earning herself the title of valedictorian in her high school.
One of her idols growing up was the famous
Baxter Stockman, who was a popular figure with youths thanks to his grand inventions that could change the world for the good. He inspired her to also do things to change the world. She settled on the idea of being a environmental journalist, after she developed a passion for environmental activism.
One of her school assignments allowed her to do just this, and she was determined her report would be on the condition of the
Rockefeller Contamination Zone, determined to expose the local government for allowing waste dumping waste in the forest, when she was attacked by a mutant salmon-bear. She was fortunately saved by the ninja turtles, where she met them for the first time.
Personality Characteristics
April cares a lot for the turtles, and despite her success in school, they are really her only true friends, so she'd absolutely risk everything to protect them from the threats that target them.

April is an intelligent and confident young women. She knows what she wants and will do whatever she needs to get it. She's hard working, pushing herself to be the best of the best in school and her extracurricular activities. She's always willing to try new things and build new skills as soon as she feels the need for it. For example, she started practicing karate so that she could help her new friends fend off threats.
April is a kindhearted and empathetic person. She keeps it cool and relaxed, but she has genuine love for her friends, without ever judging them for their appearances or life-styles.
April has a tendency to get in over her head a lot. She juggles a lot different activities and rarely gives herself time to truly relax. It doesn't matter how much is already on her plate, she's stubborn and would rather squeeze in a new activity than drop another to make room. She also has a tendency to be so passionate that she over-estimates her own skill. She'll often jump into fights to defend the turtles even if her marital arts skills pale in comparison, which can lead to her getting hurt.
April's workaholic nature makes it hard for her to get close with the other students at her school, so while she has a few acquaintances like her friend Irma. Even then she and Irma don't hang out outside of school much.
Social
April has a pretty small family but she's close with all of them. She has her mother Carol, father Kriby, as well as her Uncle Augie and cousin Robin. She will often visit her uncle's farmhouse in the summers to spend a few weeks with them.
April has an upbeat, cool girl next door vibe to her. She's got a casual attitude in contrast to her busy lifestyle and is always trying to have a good time when she's with her friends. Her go to pose is just relaxing with her hands in her jacket pocket.
History
April and Casey have always been classmates but never really knew each other before the events of the story. When April and the Turtles found Casey she was stuck in one of Donnie's many traps. April vaguely recognized Casey but even then still get her gender wrong, calling her a 'boy from her school.'
Eventually Casey became friends with everyone and April got to know her better slowly. April offered Casey tutoring when she lamented about potentially getting booted from the hockey team if her grades fell, and after that they started hanging out more.
Relationship Reasoning
April and Casey have very little in common on the surface. The A+ validictorian being friends with the class delinquent was a very unlikely friendship, and admittedly it wouldn't have happened if they both hadn't gotten involved with the Turtles, but they actually seem to get along really well.
The two of them both have this chill, free spirited attitude that meshes really well, and they will talk for ours about their different life experiences. At the end of the day, April finds Casey to be a really interesting, funny girl, and Casey is endlessly amazed by how enthusiastic April is about everything she does.
Over time this friendship has started to blossom into something more romantic.
History
Donnie met April when he and his brothers fought off a mutant that was attacking her. They were all suspicous of her at first as they had never met a human before and Splinter has always warned them about how dangerous the were, but April was friendly and kind, and even offered them candy as a peace offering.
Donnie was rather intrigued to meet a human and ask her all sorts of questions about the city and human life. April would end up showing him her computer and teaching him some of the coding stuff she knew.
After they became friends, April would give the boys their first phones to keep in touch, as well as help Donnie dig up an old laptop for him to fix up and use.
Relationship Reasoning
April and Donnie talk a lot and have a lot in common. They are both very smart kids, and Don can appreciate being able to talk to someone that can keep up with his mind. They both have a lot the are able to teach each other and can talk for hours about nerdy stuff like tech and coding.
April is Donnie's go to if he ever needs a back up to run tech stuff while he's in the middle to the fighting, which is saying something cause he doesn't ever trust anyone else to touch his stuff.
