Harderyn (har-DARE-in)

Harderyn is the capital of Osterlund and the seat of power of Grand Duchess Edele Padwyn. Dominated by the rise of Castle Anseldorn above it, Harberyn feels like a powerful capital suited more for a kingdom than a duchy. Thanks to its place close to both the great north-south and east-west Crownways, it's a powerful trade capital, like its smaller cousin Seowyn's Crossing to the west. The land is good Summerlund land, rich and fertile. There are nearby forests for lumbering and hunting, rivers for fishing and navigation, and marble quarries which supply white, red, and gray marble to countries all over Aldorath. Its proximity south of the Summerwall have caused the castle to be build up strong and high, in case Gristamere Overview should ever raise war against Summerlund again. The richness and powerful nature of the city have caused many to think that it was essentially a bribe to Duchess Edele not to cause trouble when King Hadyn Thonwyr divorced her in favor of Eleanor Kassryx. Many know she is a strong-willed woman, not to be put aside, though, and many wonder how long she will be content with her station.
