Mahakazor Overview

Mahakazor (the Bright Oasis) is a partly ruined city in the Desolation of Azmartheon. It lies along the northern edge of the Cloudraker Mountains, and it was a major trading city of the Dragonborn.

After The Rending, it became an abode of foul creatures, including the Beholder Xhamathaxanor. Eventually, however, it was partially pulled into the Shadowfell by the Shadow Dragons Umbrazhalanoth and Skyalokanara. This claimed a number of important sites of the city, including the tomb of Hazim Jamad Al'Akbar. This area of the city became known as Shadowed Mahakazor.

Shadowed Mahakazor languished for centuries under the power of its two “Dragon lords”. When rebellion fomented, the dragons brought in Shadar-kai mercenaries to quell the rebels. Guiding their new soldiers to the worship of Tiamat gave the dragons great pleasure.

Eventually, tyranny ended. A rebellion was raised against the beholder and the dragons were slain by the Fire Wasps. The two halves of the city were reunited, and Mahakazor was reunited once more.

The city remains badly gutted and ruined, but parts of it are surprisingly intact. It now boasts the single largest population of dragonborn in Azmartheon, and its Dragonlord, Farakeel Aurumvoss, hopes to restore the city to greatness.
