Petar Ostborne

Petar Ostborne was a Kalrentai farmer living in Barwych. He has had a long-standing crush on Kiera Hillborne. When she went off to war, he almost followed her, but the needs of his family (and a healthy dose of cowardice) kept him home. He felt incredibly guilty when she came home unable to walk, and he's always gone out of his way to help her. Her was giving her a ride in his cart to the trade faire at Seowyn's Crossing when they were both captured by the Weaver Lich Serresque. They became part of his experiments to recreate the work of the Weaver Scientist Simic and emerged transformed into some of the first Simic Hybrids.

His physical transformation was less dramatic than many of the others, mostly consisting of skin tone, claws, and elongated fingers and toes that allow him to climb well.  Never the less, he isn't happy with his new body and wishes to be changed back. He can understand why Kiera sees it as a blessing, but he can't feel the same way.
