Simic Hybrid

Using the knowledge he found in Greathome, the Weaver Lich Serresque continued the experiments begun by their kinsman, the scientist Simic. Taking a portion of Those Who Answer for his own, he began experimenting on them, imbuing them with the traits of other creatures. Some of these are now scattered, uncertain about their strange heritage. Others were taken from caravans forcibly by the Warforged when they were under Serresque's sway. Some Elf, Human, and Half-Elf subjects seemed to take to the process best, and he was able to imbue them with animalistic features such as manta-like patagia, monkey-like fingers and prehensile toes, gills, crab-like carapaces, and more.
While many of the subjects were horrified and wished to be returned to normal, others saw the potential of this process in improving their lives. This new race, which he refers to as Simic Hydrids, will breed true, eventually creating its own species on Tol of creatures capable of adapting themselves over time.
