Ruled: 1205 - 1246
Overview
Kirk III was called 'the Unworthy' in the beginning, despite his similarities to his predecessors. He was a Hale man until his death and he was Honest and Generous just like his father, but his Impatience made him irritating. Most importantly, his heritage was disputed among the nobility, some accusing him of being a bastard. Still, he was an Adequate Bargainer and a Drunkard .Early Reign
In 1205, his coronation was one of a kind since the creation of the Blakfort Kingdom as none of his vassals swore fealty. To assert his rule, he created the titles of the Brican Kingdom and the Kerevian Kingdom and made himself the King of both. These were only honorary titles however and nothing actually changed. In 1209, a wealthy family called the House of Rirton arrived in his court. They were followers of the Soul Jar, but travelled to Blakfort to escape their radical brethren. Kirk accepted their services without thinking as he needed loyal people in his court. 5 years later, Jacob's Curse struck again and his heir and first-born daughter died from the ailment. His grandson became the new heir. In 1215, the nobles of Blakfort began orchestrating another rebellion, but Kirk had more pressing issues at the time.Civil Unrest
In 1217, another civil war broke out in Ostatoras and Kirk joined the Ostatoran King. The war was over by 1220 without any considerable losses on either side. In the same year, Kirk allied himself with a Westatoran King, who was the vassal of the Westatoran Emperor. A year later, he befriended the Duke of Lower Krovia, which effectively stopped the rebellious nobles from gathering enough power to overthrow him. In the same year, he was called to war to fight against the Elves of the West, but he refused to do so as he had other plans. The Elf Queen
In 1223, his wife died of old age, so he married an high elf noblewoman, with whom he had an affair for years. Richsa, the elf already had a bastard child with him, but he legitimized his son, which made him the new heir. This was the first time that a human ruler married an elf noble and made the already prestigious family legendary and resulted in the better looks for the later generations. The Dark Omens
In 1227, the king saw a Dark Omen, which scared him. He became reclusive and rarely showed his face to his people afterwards. He included his new family in this habit. In 1229, Jacob's Curse struck him, but Strunitor's potions helped him recover. In the following 7 years, not much happened. He and his family were holed up in the castle of Austium and never showed their face. In 1236, Kirk wanted a fourth crown as well, so he invaded Kuyuruk, which was under the control of the Paladell Kingdom. He began moving his forces into Paladellian territory and started capturing some of the Kuyuruk villages. Despite the minimal resistance, the war went much worse than he anticipated so he decided to look for divine guidance. His prayers were heard, but not by the one he wanted. A year later, Jacob's Curse struck him and made him infirm. He feared for his life and in his panic, he withdrew his forces. In 1240, he came to his senses and sent his forces back to Kuyuruk to finish the war after he became better. The war took 5 years to end, but didn't cost many lives. The new duchy became part of the Blakfort Kingdom.End of his Reign
A year later, the Righteous Kingdom of Yi'riila came under attack by the Dark Elves, who were disgruntled by the humans there. The Probare urged every believer to send aid. The messenger sent to Kirk didn't reach him in time as he died of Jacob's Curse the day before his arrival. Upon his death, his titles got separated and the Kingdom of Kerevia gained independence.Relationships
