Blakfort Dynasty

The Blakfort Dynasty was founded by Kirk 'the Patriarch' although the family name probably predates him by a couple of generations.
The family is mostly made up of Lacrian members, although some of their offshoot branches intermingled with the local populace.
The Blakfort Dynasty originally ruled the lands of the kingdom with the same name, but the family managed to expand and gain additional territories on The Continent and beyond. These gains are all thanks to their contributions in the Holy Wars that took place between the Order and other, heretical factions, such as dark elves, orks and Kaos worshippers.
At first, the Blakfort family was following the Kaolite Faith, but a holy war started by Atacodia forced them to convert to The Church of Order.

Traditions

• Oathmen: Upon the coronation of a new Blakfort ruler, their vassals all swear an oath, never to betray their new lord.
• House of Warriors: Every male member of the dynasty is trained and expected to perform well in various martial arts.
• Squire Traditions: In addition to being trained, every Blakfort boy must serve under a knight as their squire till they are 18 unless they outrank knights.
• Treasured Knowledge: Members of the dynasty treasure and store knowledge in libraries and often spend a lot of their time studying.
• Elven Blood: Blakfort rulers are partially descended from elven blood, granting them generally good looks and a slightly extended lifespan.
• Reclusive Rulers: Members of the main Blakfort bloodline often spend most of their time in their castles, not showing themselves to the people of the realm.

Although it is not common knowledge among the population that lives under Blakfort rule, its members and scholars that study their dynasty know about a fun fact surrounding the family.
Their current heraldry completely changed since its original form (by Kirk 'the Patriarch'), but the dynastic animal of the Blakfort house is the Tortoise. As the house and its values changed dramatically since its first member (who is now forgotten), it is clear that the members of this dynasty originated from outside Lacager, its 'ancestral' home as tortoises aren't native to these lands.
One hypothesis is that they arrived from the northern shores of current day Westatoras as the house of Tutel currently resides there and the area has a significant population of giant tortoises.
