Transmission & Vectors
If an individual has the capacity to fall to sunitaris there is no reason why it should fall to that condition except one and only one. The individual meets one of or the other of the bond.
The suspicion is that the minds are born "for each other" and thus when they make contact the bond forms.
This however is highly debated, because some affected have described the bond happening only after looking into the eyes of each other while others reported they felt it as soon as the bond mate wars born if he or she was close enough.
Individuals who "suffered" from sunitaris may form several bonds. It seems somewhat known occuring with the sunitaris bond of an individual extending to a similary bonded mate. This has been described as "happening but rarely" by some Amaunir tribes.
Also know is the passing of the bond to offspring of one of the sunitaris bonded. An Example for this is the Feytarii Lar tribe, who very often form sunitaris with their mounts. As the Feytarii have rather long lifespans comparred to their mounts it is often so that they form another sunitaris with a close relative of the bond mate. This does not happen always and very often with the predictable results.
Causes
As far as what the cause may be, it is currently debated that it might be a inherited trade, or some form of outside influence during the formative phase of the individual.
No, robust data has so far been collected.
We do know about certain groups from various races and species that seem to have a disposition for sunitaris, such as Feytarii or Amaunir populations on Alver, Telasina and Söe who are forming sunitaris with their mounts. Also, known are sunitaris bonds amonst Humans and Dalvions and many others.
Symptoms
The individuals affected by this condition form a mental link, bond and partnership which will trump any other. This link joins the individuals emotionally and mentally.
Basically, the symptoms are considered worth it by the affected but often less so by the people around them. An exchange of character traits can be harmless, like a preference for a specific food or the preparation of the same. But can be annoying or worse when social conventions are affected. Say a need to submit to a male if the sunitaris affects a Leonir female.
Treatment
This condition is not treatable. Once the bond is established the breaking will occur only with the death of the affected.
Prognosis
Well, one could say that this always ends with the death of the affected. Especially as the suicide rate of an individual whose bond mates have died is over 98%.
On the other hand, if the bond encompasses more than two individuals the passing of one seems to result in, a slightly exaggerated but still normal grief process. Only the last remaining of the bonded seems to be suspectable to "follow the mates".
