Osservatoria Primaria

Purpose / Function

Osservatoria Primaria was built in order to properly study the recent rip within the weave. The massive mountain-side laboratory allows for a relatively safe place to study such unstable event. It's most recent true purpose is to be able to send brave, willing adventurers through its massive trans-planar portal.
Besides that, the building also serves as the main place for work and residence for all the researchers of Gaia-Stella that work in such environment. Rooms, lounges, and other necessary commodities are present.

Architecture

The primary building material for the observatory is the stone of the mountain that it was built around and into. The stones are mainly granite and slate. The main entrance to the primary hall of the building is a large, reinforced door made from steel and ironwood.

Defenses

Considering that the observatory is mostly built within a mountain, the defensive capabilities is already there. The massive, reinforced door is also rather difficult to break through, as it's built out of hardened steel and ironwood. It's also important that plenty of the workers in the observatory are mages that do know a few defensive spells up their sleeves. And finally, it's relatively secluded position makes it simply unknown to the public and to bandits.

History

After researchers from Gaia-Stella discovered the rip in the weave, they realized that they would need a dedicated observatory to properly manage and contain this rip before it became too much of a problem. Intellectual, wizard, and eventual Grand Researcher Gabriel Caranos began funding for the construction of a lab and eventually, Osservatoria Primaria was finished in the year 640, 15 years after the rip's discovery. Above the rip was a massive construction site that would soon become the observatory's trans-planar portal room.
Currently, the observatory has about 100 or so researchers. Some of them have magical abilities while others don't, however knowledge about the world and of magic is always going to be the primary skill that researchers will need.
In the year 640, after the completion of the lab and its set-ups, the researchers began their search for worthy people to help their mission of defending Tynaria Alt.
