The Asylum
The Asylum is a space created by the gods to imprison Bulir the Envious and his demon army in the aftermath of The Infernal War.
History
In the Year of Shackles, Bulir the Envious led his army of fiends against the mortal races of Valine. Following the defeat of the demons, the gods created an extra-dimensional space to imprison them. Naming it The Asylum for the inherent madness that it housed, the physical form of the demons was constrained within the realm, for the most part, but the corrupting influence of its fiendish denizens still leaks into the physical realm. Some 130 years later, this corruption was directed towards the Gith leader Munak who sold his entire race into slavery for twenty generations in exchange for immortality - a fool's bargain, for Munak remains imprisoned within The Asylum, immortal but aging, in a cage around Bulir's neck.
For those twenty generations, the Gith worked in horrific conditions to shape The Asylum to Bulir's liking, returning to the material plane when Munak 's contract expired as an irrevocably changed species.
