Yoichinoko (YO-EE-CHEE-no-koh)

“Don’t worry! It’ll cool down here eventually!” a joking voice bellows over the snow. A female harengon with white fur bows to you. “Obel Mustave at your service, sugars! Welcome to Yoichinoko!”
― Obel Mustave, Adventure & Archeologist Extraordinaire.
Yoichinoko is less of a village and more of a collection of adventurers and mercenaries depending on one another to survive in the harsh wilds of the Frost Territories . They are something of nomads, traveling from location to location and launching expeditions to nearby ruins and dungeons they find, searching ways to put their skills to the test and earn coin along the way.   As they go where the coin flows, the adventurers and mercenaries who live there reside in yurts which can be packed away neatly in case there is need for a speedy departure.

Law and Crime

Who leads the group is unknown to the party. But it is obvious that the small community lives by a code of honor and an understanding that they must work together to survive the environment. For the most part, despite the lack of formal laws, Yoichinoko is peaceful.

Demographics

As a collection of adventurers, the population reflects the diversity of the job. As of 504 AG there are 150 residents, 72% of whom are a mix of dwarves, humans and half-orcs, 24% of whom are elves of some kind, and 4% who are none of the above.

  • There are ruins relatively near Yoichinoko settlement, simply referred to as "The Ruins" by the adventurers and mercenaries. It took nearly 2 years to fully excavate, and it is half buried in snow and the freezing waters of the Ice Basin.
