Draconic War

That which marked the end of the ancient dragonss rule, the Draconic War is foretold to return one day to Vestria where the dragons' wrath shall be dealt out to humanity.

Summary

Beginning with the deceit of Lucrestus, the war was waged against ancient dragons and their kin by an alliance between Lucrestus' human followers and the dwarves.   The war ended with the dwarven race being wiped out, Lucrestus and his forces being killed, and the dragons disappearing from Vestria. Accounts of the last battles of the war tell of the draconic generals declaring that they will one day return to Vestria and begin the war anew, exacting revenge for the deaths of their kin.   Supposedly, the dragons left a curse on the land in the form of the Titanite Plague, leaving many in fear of them making good on their promise of vengance.

Spread

The war is part of the religious history taught by the Church of Rosaris both to warn against temptation leading one astray as Lucrestus had been and to warn generations of the threat dragons bring should they ever return.

Cultural Reception

The Draconic War is treated rather lightly by most modern people with many seeing the whole legend from the initial conflict the dragons' promised return to be just that, a myth. Though the devout of the church take the threat more seriously. It is believed that the myth is the reason behind the church acting so possessive when it comes to archeological efforts around the era.   For elven races, the legend is a point of friction between them and humans and cited as a reason for isolation between the races. The elves supposedly stood neutral during the war and argue that the legend points to humans being untrustworthy. Those believing in the dragons' threat are inclined to isolate themselves from humanity, lest they themselves be caught up in the vengance the latter deserve.
