An ancient race famed for its building ability and craftsmenship.

Additional Information

Social Structure

While archeological evidence points to the Dwarves indeed having a social hierarchy, it is unkown what the criteria surrounding it might have been. There are multiple accounts of a Dwarven king, but scholars have debated if the Dwarven meaning of 'king' is quite the same as that typically used.

Facial characteristics

Imagery of Dwarven men often depict them has have significant beards. Some scholars theorize that their beards were a form of status indicator in their society as art of noble figures in Dwarven cumture such as the kings often show them having longer, braided facial hair while images of their warriors have shorter, if still substancial beards.   Females seemed to take similar care of their hair as the rare art that exists of Dwarven women has their hair either tied back or fixed into immaculate braids.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Dwarves hailed from the mountain city of Kurat, located towards the continent's south. For reasons yet unknown, the people did not seem to have need of spreading beyond the confines of their city.

Average Intelligence

Tales and surviving historical accounts alike depict Dwarves as gifted craftsmen and shrewd businessmen.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

It is believed that Dwarves were gifted Ore mages as evident by not only their enchanted tools, but also the walls of their city, which stand just as proudly and unbroken as when the city closed its gates and fell silent centuries ago.

Civilization and Culture

Average Technological Level

If there is one thing known for certain about Dwarves, it is that they were masters in the crafting of enchanted tools. Tools dating back to the time of the Dwarves have been recorded as having abilities far surpassing those constructed by modern hands with some not seemingly even having a mana crystal visible.   Scholars and artificers alike have sought out what few pieces have survived to today to study in the hopes of unlocking the techniques used to forge them.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

While some Dwarves were not behind the walls of Kurat when the gates closed, there evidentally were not enough to keep the race alive on their own. It is not unheard of for some to trace their lineage back to a half-Dwarven union.

Art and what few sculptures found outside of Kurat of Dwarves depict them as having muscular builds.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Accounts and surviving art depict Dwarves as having hair "red as the fires in a forge" as the norm and pale skin.   There are also abundant references to Dwarven men and women having tattoos of some nature on their arms and, in the case of at least the former, on their chest. It is unknown if these marking were merely for aesthetics or if there existed deeper cultural meanings for them. Sadly, most art that includs the tatoos on the Dwarves are not of good enough quality to discern the designs and patterns consistantly.
