Fyey-Ahkeer-Byssium/Abyssium

Fyey-Ahkeer-Byssium was founded by Zharam Safina upon what was once the site of all sorts of conflict and atrocity. It was a land used by others for slavery, weapon testing, human harvesting and similiar horrific barbarities. Fyey-Ahkeer-Byssium is a somewhat large nation located in the lower bridge of MaiRycia. While this would usually be a relatively disadvantageous position it has managed to retain a safe and stable position through the Centurion Treaty, its isolationist policies, harsh climates, brutal geographic features and external prejudices and infamy from surrounding nations.   The nation is made of 11 provinces and 1 condominium territory, run similarly to a principality, including the Capital. The leader of the nation is named the Zharam, from the native word for great leader of clans, and resides within the Capital. Each of the other 10 provinces is led by the children of Founder Safina and their descendants. The provinces are then further divided by districts, managed by Clans formed in the founding and guided by officials.   Having been founded during a time of chaos upon a near barren wasteland it was named out of irony, rather than practicality. Fyey-Ahkeer is a native word referring to a bountiful forest, especially one immune to disaster. It came from a bet lost to (friend?) and was kept as both the result of the bet and as a hope for the future, though the latter was simply the rationale used by Safina to accept it. Byssium refers to a hell or abyss and was used as reference to its past out of respect, in memoriam and as reminder.   The brutal methods the people used to liberate and form themselves made them infamous. Their mostly isolationist tendencies only fuelled the rumours but to theirs and Vaianorans benefit. This does, however, expose their people to fear and racism when they leave their borders. These views often result in its people being referred to as monsters or demons, to which they often respond that most monsters and made, not born, and remind them just who made them.

History

Fyey-Ahkeer-Byssium is a nation born of horrible violence and chaos, holding a blood-soaked history many shudder at. Originally titled Hells Playground by others, the nation was at first unclaimed land isolated by a ring of mountains, and sat upon a point between two continents, open to be used by both and owned by none. In a tradition spanning well over a century, it was used a route for criminal activity, slave routes, weapons testing grounds, a dumping ground for their unwanted and a source for slaves, test subjects and more. Anything was allowed as nothing wasn't.   The native peoples occupied the sparse forests and cave systems, using their community and the relations with the silk spiders to survive the violence before eventually being swallowed up the Ravages. The higher powers had tired of dealing with ownership by birthright and decided to eliminate their claim through systematic genocide of the people. Groups of soldiers, mercenaries and thugs burned down the forests simultaneously, using a chemical composition to spread it far and burn hot. Survivors were rounded up and tortured to death before each other. Old or young, man or women, they spared none.   Some managed to flee to a systems of caves used a sanctuary from fire storms, but having predicted this the assailants waited until the refugees finished arriving, and once they were comfortable, slaughtered them instantly with chemical weapons in the contained space. They spread a highly toxic and flammable gas through the caves and let it sit and soak through everything before setting it alight. The fire spread through the systems in a set of continuous explosions, burning so hot those exposed to it were nothing but ash and imprints on the cave walls. Any remaining natives survivors were picked off bit by bit, executed at the borders, experimented on, enslaved, left exposed to the fatal landscape. The Ravages were completed after a mere month.   This continued until 1252 IE when the nations founder began to plan for the liberation and ownership of her land. Founder Safina was a native of Hells Playground and survived the Ravages a child, living on the land until she was captured as a slave and sold to a brothel. Eventually moving her way up from a street brothel to a concubine of a powerful Duke in a neighbouring land, she made use of her new power and the contacts she'd built up to make an underground fighting force and win with blood and espionage. She set up a deal with the potential heir of the Kingdom of Vaianor, making him King, amongst other agreements, in return for his funding, information and manpower.   Instead of relying upon brute force, she struck hard and fast with a marksmens' ability, using her information and underground groups to turn neighbouring nations in on themselves with violence and eliminating the forces within the playground in one fell swoop. Some were felled by riots, others by economic collapse, and more by war, both domestic and international. Supplies and intelligence were cut off and in the mayhem Safina led the people she'd gathered to slaughter those occupying her lands.   History of Fyey-Ahkeer-Byssium

Demography and Population

Fyey-Ahkeer-Byssium is a nation founded upon a land used as target practise, criminal dumping ground, human slavery and more, making it an international hub of horrors. Upon the founding the survivors of these atrocities were brought together under Clan structures, scattered through the districts to prevent segregation and integrated into basic social structures. As a result Fyey-Ahkeer-Byssium boasts itself as one of the most diverse single nations in the world.   While based on native systems, Zharam Safina used the Clan structure to integrate and develop various cultures and traditions while emphasising more modern systems for everyone to follow. While freedom of faith is permitted, organised religion of any sort is not. As such, there is a wide variety of religion, faith and spirituality shown in the form of events, holidays, and personal practises but you'll find no churches. They did, however, support the construction of public communal religious facilities in the districts to meet their social and religious needs.

Territories

The condominium is a territory made of a thin strip of land separating the two nations, Fyey-Ahkeer-Byssium and the Kingdom of Vaianor, and is run on a shared governance between the two. Each nation sends three delegates to share the duty, the noble running the neighboring province, a government official personally selected by the nations ruler to act as their voice, and one official elected by the people. Due to its small area it is run as one large district. It's about the width of a small city and covers the length of the two nations in an eye-like shape.   The condominium runs on a tri-tiered hierarchy of laws. The highest tier is a set of laws regarding diplomatic relations, travel and other national concerns, which are agreed upon by the nations leaders and their highest officials every century when the Centurion Treaty is reviewed and renewed. These laws are written into the treaty and may only be amended through the treaty. The second tier covers state concerns and may include issues such as travel, public services, agriculture, safety restrictions and similar policies and procedure. Second tier laws must be discussed and decided upon by the six chosen delegates. If the issue requires it, a specialist or professional directly related to the issue must be referred to, but the specialist holds no weight in the final decision. The decision must then be approved of by both of the nations leaders. The third tier covers basic daily district-level issues which hold no great national or state importance. The delegates may act upon them without deferring to the nations leaders.

Religion

Due to the issues Safina and her aides noticed and the brutality recorded under official religious organisations, organised religion is strictly prohibited.   People may practise their faith and follow their traditions, so long as they harm none, and adapt them to everyday life and important events like funerals, but overall religion is considered a private affair. As most of the earliest citizens had suffered under the corruption of various major religious organisations this decision was met with little conflict. However, Safina did have to make an allowance for religious holidays and events.   In order to provide for the peoples need of community and prayer places the Government built large centers for them to gather. The buildings are usually segmented between larger religions with smaller ones and spare spaces between them. They're shaped like a large ring with a shared garden at the center.
