Miracle Cure

Mercure Elixer's first mass produced potion, and also their most popular and controversial potions is their simple miracle cure. This red, bubbly tonic is advertised as being able to cure all diseases and remove all toxins. It then has an asterisk that leads you to the top left of the bottle that is a disclaimer: Take the counter potion or be poisoned. You can then peel the label off to view the very long list of things the tonic doesn't actually cure.

This tonic does also have a side effect of healing injuries and restoring your health slightly, but that is an effect of the powerful aether charged items in the potion and isn't really the main effect.

50 years ago when Mercure Elixers started producing these potion, it became very popular due to a potion shortage, caused by a number of wars happening across Vreathe at that moment in time. Due to those wars, a number of countries were also hoarding their Aethercite making it impossible to get decent healing items. It was the perfect time for some newer apothecaries to try to gain market share.

As long as the Counter Potion was consumed, there were no ill effects, and while the potion didn't actually cure every disease and remove every toxin, it still became quite popular in the abscence of better options. Even after the potion shortage ended, Mercure Elixers has since moved on to making much more powerful potions (with much more powerful side effects). They still produce the miracle cure as it is still one of their most popular items.
