Down the Stai.... Nevermind! Day 3

General Summary

Exploring Down The Stairway

  • Alton and Harold began descending down the staircase in the basement of the bar.
  • Beau elected to go with them, as she feared without proper supervision they were the most likely to get themselves killed. Being of similar mind, Ryltar also followed them.
  • The descent took the better part of an hour.
  • Along the way, Harold tried placing Gyrdyr's coin inside the vial of bone dust he had taken from the nameless goddess in the astral sea. The coin vanished, causing the vial to glow. Harold tried to use the vial to cast his spells but found it unreliable. Also, his eye started glowing golden.
  • The bottom of the staircase was blocked by rubble, but not impassable.
  • Deciding that they were too far for help to come in case something went wrong, they turned around, plannning to return the next day.

But wait, what about the other option?

  • Tired from his day, and his definitely won drinking game, captain Farren returned to the ship.
  • Judy had spoken with the wizard Robillard while the captain was away and left a note on the dining table. It lacked some details.
  • The captain read the note, and then went to rest for the night.
  • In the morning, the captain received further information from Judy which seemed to indicate that his acquaintance did in fact know another way down, but there had been some issue with communication.

Alton gets a Message

  • Rillae sent a message from Vyaelian.
Alton, it has come to my attention that you and Ryltar have gone to your homeland where I cannot help. Keep me updated and stay
  • It seemed sending messages were limited to 25, not 26 words in this world.

Eric Finley Clapton

  • Captain Farren and Alton went off to clear up their legal issues, and meet up with Robillard again.
  • The wizard provided them information that the raw lianyte could not be used for long as a spellcasting focus as it was degrading. He told them that they might be better off speaking face to face with legendary hero Drizzt if they wanted his help. It was also revealed that Drizzt was 2 weeks away, but there were passages in the area that he knew of that likely would not require backtracking.
  • Alton managed to sneak into the wizard's tower, stealing a set of robes, donning his Land Below thieves' guild hood, yoinking several random papers, and calling himself Eric.
  • Farren managed to gain access to the tower, after the guards had shooed them away, not trusting Alton's appearance, by using his clever tongue.
  • They were able to meet with Tsarra who, in exchange with the assistance the captain had provided through the red lianyte chunk, offered them a sealedd document to help lessen the fine on the ship.
  • Harold was late to return to the ship the night before and slept in.
  • When he and Beau met up with captain Farren and Alton, Alton continued to pretend to the the wizard Eric Finley Clapton.
  • Harold not only fell for this, but he seemed particularly forgetful.
  • Krumbleton, drawing on what remained in him of Thor's might, managed to cure him.
  • Captain Farren reluctantly paid the reduced fine for their ship's arrival.

Jake and Jr.

  • Captain Farren found that his friend Jake had been fired from the city watch.
  • Farren met up with him, and met his young son, jr.
  • Farren gave him an amount of gold equal to the gold Tsarra had helped him save on the fine.

Forget About the Stair

  • The party decided that they should go meet Drizzt and see these legendary halls of mithril.
  • The ship sailed off beyond the horizon, before floating into the air, and flying straight over the city and on to their next destination.
