General Summary

Will They Learn not to Sing Loudly in the Underdark? No.

  • The party floated along, down and across the river, levitated by the flumphs. Beau continued to play some music for them.
  • As the party discussed not knowing where to go, whether the river would bring them beneath the ocean or near the surface, etc. a loud rumbling announced the arrival of another purple worm. This one though, seemed strange.
  • When the worm slumped sadly, not able to find the source of the music, Beau began to play again. She ducked behind Alton, who was tackled to the ground. Alton guessed that the worm had not always been a worm.
  • The party agreed to help the worm if he would help them get out.
  • At first, they thought to help him after they were back on the surface, but Farren decided to try to uncurse him first, when the worm offered to carry the party in it's maw.
  • With the power of Luin's candle, and his own magic, captain Farren managed to revert the worm to his normal, shirtless, drow form.
  • The stranger ... had forgotten a few things... like his name. Still, he seemed relatively amicable, if a bit wary of Beau. He let the party through tunnels that had been crossed back and forth by himself...as a purple worm.
  • Apparently, he had been after a wizard for not paying, the wizard had threatened to turn him into a worm, but due to spell plague shenanigans, had turned him into a purple worm instead. The stranger claimed to have eaten the wizard.
  • The stranger mentioned that there was a market nearby, but some mind flayers had moved in. He led them to skullport, mentioning that he believed it to also be abandoned.
  • The stranger believed that he owed Rhylyn money.

Time's Up

  • Luin's candle burned out.
  • Rayne told Farren that Luin was proud of him. He said Thor could send his own messages to Krumbleton. He told Alton that "she says she tried to send it to find the coin, but she can't guarantee anything... she thinks it's broken"
  • Rayne vanished.

An Attempt at a Rest

  • Nearing exhaustion, the party found an old tavern, in tact but for a hole in the wall, still stocked with some alcohol.
  • They set up camp. Beau put a tiny hut to cover most of the hole.
  • Alton tried to feed and care for the children, covering a shivering child with a blanket, placing the doll in the arms of the smallest, etc.
  • Ryltar attempted to contact Harold, telling him where they were, but did not receive a reply.
  • During the night, Alton glimpsed sillhouettes outside. The flumphs started to turn red. He fired a warning shot.
  • Harold's voice called out to stop him.
  • Harold convinced Alton to open the door so he could get inside.
  • Harold, mind controlled by mind flayers, attacked the children and flumphs. Many of the flumphs immediately dropped dead.
  • A fight ensued.
  • Kayelin was furious.
  • Beau held up the dome. Farren was turned invisible and made good use of his paladin powers.
  • The party defeated the attackers, freeing Harold's mind. One escaped. Harold offered to go after it in the astral plane but thought better of it.
  • The party tried to save the children and flumphs. The children were saved, but many flumphs died. The other flumphs were sad.
  • Alton warned Harold to stay away for a while.
  • Harold turned the mindwitness corpse to dust with lightning lure. He was eventually dragged back to rest.
  • Beau did not sleep.
  • Harold could no longer sense Gantar
