General Summary
Do we let him out or do we keep him in the terrarium?
Behold the Ballroom
- Inside the fortress, the party listened carefully.
- There was an extremely faint chopping sound coming from beyond the wall to the south.
- From the other side of the wall leading to the ballroom, the party heard the musings of two creatures muttering wistfully in undercommon, and occasionally growled something indecipherable in a language the party did not understand.
- The party correctly guessed them to be beholderkin, based on the way their speech patterns were vaguely reminiscent of boxholder and his friends.
"Some wanna be boxholders"
- The beholderkin were vaguely vampiric though Farren noted that they were not actually undead.
- The beholderkin were apparently the cleanup crew, preparing for a party of some sort. They spoke of 'the princess' who had tasked them with this and promised they could go play in the garden later. The party assumed this to be one of Myviira's daughters.
- They did not appear to have keys or anything else on them.
- The party learned from them that some of the vampires might still be out on a hunt - the vampires apparently liked to play some kinds of twisted hunt games outside.
- The party attempted to lure the beholderkin into the narrow hallways, but only one ventured in, claiming that they were not supposed to go in this hallway, or clean it, despite not doubting the captain's claim to be there on behalf of the princess.
- The party fought and defeated the beholderkin, noting they had an ability to regenerate from the damage they dealt.
- Rust suggested using the beholderkin corpses as costumes to explore the area.
- Unfortunately, when Krumbleton used the power of Thor's hammer to defeat the enemies, it caused a clap of thunder, echoing through the compound and drawing the attention of the guards.
- The party dumped the beholderkin corpses into the pit, where they got clogged. The party barred the pit.
- The party escaped into what appeared to be a vacant room.
- Rust asked Donnie to lock the padlock behind them using mage hand.
Nedyyanna's Tower
- The party hid, as two trios of guards came into the room, and headed back out to investigate.
- The first floor had a couch, a table, and a chair covered in a white sheet. There was a large bowl in one corner and an unlit wall sconce. Both the sconce and the bowl gave off divination and evocation. The party deduced that the sconce with it's strange purple candles might have something to do with Myviira's surveillance system. Unlike the ballroom, which was shrouded in magical darkness, Nedyanna's tower, with it's unlit wall sconces was only normally dark. On the ceiling there was a non-magical chandelier and an almost imperceptible circular engraving.
- The circle did not give off any magic aura, and there was neither a staircase nor a ladder leading to it but upon closer inspection, it was an illusion, and marked an entry to the floor above.
- The second floor was a similarly out of use dining room. There were a couple display cases with plates and glasses. The window of one and the dishes within had been smashed in possibly the fit of rage of an angry mother. There were two wall sconces, but they did not have candles in them. The drawers beneath the display cases had some extra candles. There was a large portrait of a drow woman dressed in fine clothing and jewelry looking down at the viewer.
- The third floor was filled with cages and terrariums. There were five creatures seemingly abandoned in them. There was a vampiric hamster running on a wheel without stopping, staring blankly ahead. There was a trapdoor spider that hissed angrily and changed to red mist in an attempt to escape the terrarium when it was approached. There was a tiny t-rex that seemed to have broken through to another terrarium and eaten some other captive creatures to survive. It was still starving when the party found it. There was a vampiric gazer, similar to boxholder. Lastly, there was a tiny (the size of your hand, same as the t-rex) sky elf who appeared to be meditating.
- The sky elf turned out to be a vampire. He said that his name was Dordan and seemed convinced that everything was a trap or a cruel game.
- The party convinced Dordan that they were not evil, and learned from him that Nedyanna was experimenting on what could be a vampire, on what weaknesses and strengths they could have, on what kind of vampires could be contagious etc.
- Dordan also revealed that he had tried to escape once, and explained that the doors without locks or handles could be opened with special rings that the nobles, guards, and janitorial supervisors carried.
- Dordan also claimed that the vampiric hamster and gazer were not contagious, but the vampiric spider was.
- Before the party carried him away, Dordan retrieved the remains of another tiny sky elf, saying that he wanted to bury her somewhere that was not here.
- While the party captured the t-rex, placed the gazer in a bag of holding, spoke to Dordan and let him enter the bag of holding, Donnie explored the other floors. She informed the party that there were a total of twelve floors. There were six guards manning the tower at surface level, or five and one who was there to share some information. The rest of the building was mostly abandoned. There were some books and logs locked away, some furniture and clothing etc.
- The party asked if there were any rings and Donnie retrieved a pile of them, seemingly pretending to go back up one floor and then dumping them from her bag, taking offense to any implication that she was a thief.
- Dordan said that none of the rings looked like the one he had taken from the guard and so could not identify if any were the key.
- The party put the rings away.
- The spider and hamster were left behind.
New New Plan
- With the help of the party, Harold attempted to disguise himself as Myviira.
- Rust used his magic to get Alton to the other side of the door so he could investigate and pick the lock.
- As they got the door unlocked, they overheard the guards speaking. Apparently these guards worked for Raymond, did not understand why he put up with Myviira, thought the vacant tower was a security risk, and likely did not like her.
- Harold decided at the last moment that it might be a bad idea and the party readied to assassinate one of the guards they were luring in instead.

- 1 vampiric gazer + terrarium
