To Myviira's Tower

General Summary

"I'm about to just tell her everything and what we're after." - Alton the drow assassin   "How about you don't do that." - Farren the goodly paladin   "I don't know what to do in this situation!" - Alton the drow assassin   "LIE ALTON, WE'RE GOING TO LIE!" -Farren the goodly paladin

Violence is the Option

  • After Harold's hesitance to attempt their earlier impersonation plan, and Krumbleton and Farren agreed that they could fight the vampires as vampires were evil, the party ambushed one of the guards.
  • Harold, Alton, and Farren managed to kill him almost instantly. Alton suggested the captain use his sword to destroy him completely before he could retreat as mist, but the captain allowed Harold to attempt to absorb the vampire into his helmet instead. Meanwhile, Rust sealed the cracks with ice so that the mist could not escape.
  • Harold's eyes and helmet glowed dangerously. His helmet now drips tiny wolves as well as spiders on occasion. He did not go unconscious.
  • Harold retrieved the fallen guard's possessions.
  • Alton disguised himself as the guard and tried to convince his companions that there was nothing amiss.
  • Atha attempted to bet Krumbleton 50 gold that Alton couldn't pull it off, and claimed he definitely passed her test when Krumbleton denounced gambling.
  • The party noted that the wall sconce was starting to light, burning the sheet that Rust had covered it with earlier as darkness began to amass beneath it.
  • Rust dispelled the magic, at least temporarily disabling it.
  • The other guards seemed to believe that the dead guard was playing some kind of practical joke, claiming he had been doing such things for 400 years and it was getting old. Alton quickly claimed he was sorry, just on edge, and going to lock the door and ran back to the party.
  • Rust teleported Alton to the other side of the other door so he could pick the lock.
  • The entire party went invisible.

Next, to Myviira's Tower

  • The party hurried down to the door that had no lock and used one of the two rings the guard had dropped to open it.
  • All but Farren and Alton were covered in the smell of lavender and vanilla.
  • While waiting outside Myviira's door, the guard in the hallway smelled the scent and went first to investigate the hallway to the pit. He then was momentarily distracted discussing if there was a leak with another guard.
  • The party opened the door to Myviira's tower and found it draped in magic darkness.
  • The area from a wall sconce to the door was momentarily lit with a purple glow.
  • The party used the knowledge of where the wall sconce was and the two remaining bolts of dispel magic (originally given to Harold and Alton by Donnie when they were infiltrating Amberlight) to turn off the sconce. (It took 2, as Rust identified the spells active as at least level 4).
  • The room remained mostly dark, though the party managed to squeeze inside next to the wall.
  • There was a second sconce in the room.
  • The party discovered that the purple glow seemed attracted to any movement in the darkness. With no movement,
  • At Rust's suggestion, Harold used mage hand with Donnie's assistance to cover the candles with a pair of metal cups Donnie dug out of her pockets.
  • Captain Farren investigated the sound of dripping they had heard outside the door as this was happening. There was the drained body of a sky elf with mangled wings above the warm blood filled basin in the corner, similar to the empty one in Nedyanna's tower that gave off an aura of divination and evocation.
  • Farren drank one potion of levitation to investigate it.
  • Rust asked if Donnie had any other cups and she gave him a bottle and a bowl to cover the second sconce with.
  • Alton went to remove the candles instead but triggered a glyph on the floor when he stepped near. He avoided damage and removed the candles.
  • The party decided to move up to the next floor.
  • Alton found that this door demanded a password and instantly answered "Nedyyanna", which was correct. Inspiration Abounds.
  • Note, there were a few paintings of different location on this floor. One depicted a jungle home. The other an underground stalagmite building.

The Second Floor

  • On the second floor, there was a dining room similar to Nedyyanna's but without any sheets. The display cases contained fancy china, glass plates, wine glasses, golden goblets, a goblet shaped like a skull that might have just been a skull etc.
  • There were three frames, one large one depicting another drow woman, one smaller one depicting Nedyyanna, and another smaller one without any portrait inside.
  • There were eight vampires sitting motionless at the dining table, staring unblinking. There was one empty chair.
  • Some were wearing similar uniforms to the guards - they were possibly Myviira's guards.
  • They turned their heads when noise alerted them to the party's presence but were not overly interested. Through careful stealth, the party was able to avoid detection.
  • After Alton found that the next floor seemed to lead to a pocket dimension or the outside, Rust asked mudslide to create a distraction so that the eight vampires would not see the rope of climbing.

The Third Floor

  • The third floor appeared to be outside, in an area completely surrounded by trees with strange leaves and giant mushrooms.
  • There was a path leading to a slightly ruined structure.
  • After the party made a little bit too much noise on their approach, an enormous 35*35ft vampire dragon emerged and came to investigate the unexpected visitors.
  • Alton and Farren persuaded the dragon to show them her new vacation home, as she called it. She grabbed them and flew them over to it, slightly violently.
  • The rest of the party ran to catch up, still invisible and not sure if they had been seen.
  • Farren and Alton noticed a tiny red star in the distance, that the forest seemed to extend unnaturally in all directions, and that there had once been a door to the building but it had been destroyed in the dragon's recent renovations.
  • The dragon mentioned how she was going to tear down a few more walls to make room for her gold and her doll collection and her spoon collection and her sword collection.
  • The dragon assumed they were spies, for Tal, or for one of the Raymond, the sorceress or the leader...
  • She seemed slightly bored, and leapt from wall to wall, taunting them.
  • She claimed to be bonding with Myviira over mutual grief, and that Nedyyanna had been her favourite pet. She acknowledged that Nedyyanna saw things in the inverse.
  • Rust noticed some large lianyte that seemed to give off energy like the purple lianyte that had shocked him in the Merchants' Guild Fight club. He opted not to touch it.
  • He also found a mirror that reflected an intact residence. It did not transport him when he touched it. Since it was cut in half, he assumed that he needed the other half to activate it.
  • Harold noticed that the dragon had a bit of the mirror stuck in its tail.
  • Meanwhile, Alton offered the dragon the shoe he had recovered from Sen's island. He had repaired it. He and Farren talked up the shoe. The dragon seemed vaguely interested and kept seeking bribes or tithes.
  • Farren offered a song, taking some song about some dragon from Faerun, changing the name to 'Avnylth' (they finally managed to persuade the dragon to give her name with the promise of the song), adding 'wonderful', 'powerful', and 'treasure's a plentiful' to the lyrics. Harold contributed by flying above and dropping glitter from his butterfly wings on the captain.
  • The dragon seemed amused, and proclaimed to like Farren, though continued to be not as impressed with Alton who had just kept a steady beat for the captain. She did acknowledge that the shoe was kind of cool though.
