The Pit (Location)
The Pit is the name for a large region within the Underworld, which serves as the homeland of the Toroc, God of the Underworld, as well as the centre point of his power. Here, deep in the underworld hundreds of kilometres below the land of Holzmark, a searingly hot landscape of fleshsculpted mountains and Tabaanic madness unfurles.
It is a deep and desolate place where flames continuously burn and rain from the sky. The heat given off by the flames is up to 60 times hotter than any flames found on Argo. Noxious sulfuric gasses hang in the air and rivers of molten metal flow freely, making the place completely uninhabitable by those not native to the plane. The exeption lies in the the Infernal Cities, large metropoli who are cooled by Tabaanic magic, making them livable for the various thralls serving the archdemons and -devils.
Geographic Regions
The Pit covers a plateau of 30.000 square kilometers. This region is surrounded by deep ravines that lead into the lower depths of the plane and in some points all the way to the Underlight, It is however not a single unified rock, with various geographic regions that split up the region. Below is a list of the most important parts.Gol
Officially called the The Crown City of the Golden Dome, this huge metropolis and seat of Toroc is located at the shores of the Abyssal Sea, an ocean that stretches from the western border of the Pit all the way beneath the lands of Xulde to the westpole. The city is home to millions of inhabitants, many of whom are nothing more than thralls in the buisness sector of the underworld.Arestara
Officially called the The Archdemonic Horde of Arestar, this land, located amids the myriad of cave systems to the north of Gol, is at the very front lines of the Elemental War. Home to the Archdemon Arestar, the plane is one of chaos and fire, yet it's central city of Urbis Arestara stands in contrast to that. Here, the archdemon has build his giant stronghold to spy upon the world, gaining any information that would help him in the wars.Abraxis
Officially called the The Infernal Archmarquisate of Abraxas, this realm is situated in the rocky fields and blood rivers in the east of the Pit. Many cities were build here from where the Archdevil Abraxas schemes. It is also home to the Emporium Abraxora, a huge interplanar market that is amongst the largest buildings dedicated to commerce anywhere in the known universe. Here, thousands of shops sell anything imaginable, as long as they grant the Archmarquis his tax however.Divbanorum
Officially called the The Infernal Marquisate of Divband, this relatively small realm is focussed on the Quinque Iuga Inferni, the Five Peaks of Hell, located in the south of the Pit. Five fortresses stand on each of the five eye-bearing mountains, with the fortress-city of Urbis Divbanorum suspended in between them. The valley in between the mountains is infested with nearly any kind of pest and disease found amids the planes, with the Archmarquis Divband eager to complete his collection.Hanxolia
Officially called the The Infernal Barony of Hanxol, the wetlands of the Fleshwarped lie in the centre of the Pit, surrounding the Nebula on all sides. While few cities are built amids the bloodsoaked marshes, the Fleshwarped use living houses of meat to shield them from the surfuric rains. The Infernal Baron Hanxol makes his eternal circle around the Nebula on top of a million legged castle of flesh, a round that takes him exactly a year. The Nebula
Officially called the Nebula Furiae, or Mist of Madness. This huge mist filled crater in the centre of the Pit is feared by even Toroc himself. The Nebula knows no known master, although it is inhabited by a presumed form of Elder Evil. Seldom they are seen, but when the natives of the Nebula leak out, it takes many fleshwarped to take them down. No counterattack can be attempted either, as none who enter its boundries ever return. It is a source of mystery for the wider plane, but from its dephts a whisper may occasionally be heard, a whisper of madness.
