The Underworld

The Underworld is a subterranean layer below the Underdark and above the Underlight.
While the underworld is famous for its myriad of demons, devils and other infernal creatures, in truth the vast majority of the Underworld is considered a uninhabited wasteland due to the extreme temperatures here, so high in places that magic itself is warped. While there are multiple pockets of livable land, the largest and likely the only relevant one is the one known as The Pit.
The Pit is the home of the only known settled deity on the martial plane, Toroc, old Warden of the old Afterlife of the damned, which name is lost to time. Here in the Underworld he fights the fire below with his magic and his servants. The landscape is characterised by mostly rockformations in all directions, with rivers of molten rock and seas of magma. The place is well inhabited by all the Spawn of Hell, with the casual wanderer here and there.
There are that many species here, that some say that there are more different species down here then on all the layers above this point. It resulted in many types of civilisation to erupt here. While some types of orcs travel around here, various demonic creatures, Toroc's Spawn have settled here as well.
