Mystryl Merchant District

While the Mystryl market square is where citizens find most of their daily needs, the Merchant District is where one goes for non-essential goods or to make bigger deals. Door after door in this relatively small district opens into a shop or meeting space set up for business. Travel isn't restricted to any particular class of visitor, as even the common folk sometimes need something more than the daily staples. Everyone needs to look out for the various cutpurses and muggers that slink between buildings.   Businesses of all kinds are found in the Merchant District, but the following are some of the more notable or popular places.

Resolute Financial Services

  • Type: Bank & Exchange (shop)
  • Guild Member: No
  • Description: Another independent bank handling primarily large sums and trades, Resolute is a powerful broker of business deals among locals and visitors. The bank has existed for centuries and most notably managed the financial dealings related to a major construction addition to Brighthall Castle in 3312.

Dawn to Dusk Clothier

  • Type: Tailor (shop)
  • Guild Member: Yes
  • Description: Another member of the Tailors Guild, Dawn to Dusk is the largest clothing shop in Mystryl. It deals almost entirely in day-to-day apparel. The clothes are good quality if plain. Dawn to Dusk makes some higher-end clothing, but it's a tier or two below the best available and is sold primarily to working-class folks on the rare occasions they need to attend formal events.

Zeal

  • Type: Artist (shop)
  • Guild Member: Yes
  • Description: Zeal is a large gallery where individual members of the Artists Guild pay a small fee for the opportunity to put their works on display. It provides no great service to artists or potential buyers other than the convenience of a central, consistent location.

Blind Shoe Network, Mystryl Branch

  • Type: Cobbler (shop)
  • Guild Member: Yes
  • Description: No one knows where the name Blind Shoe Network came from, but the guild represents the best cobblers in Winderia. The Mystryl branch does outstanding work, but it is otherwise unexceptional.

The Many Mouths of the Hydra

  • Type: Magic Shop — Miscellaneous & Curiosities (shop)
  • Guild Member: No
  • Description: The Many Mouths of the Hydra is a well-known shop dealing in strange and rare magic items. You won't find a magic halberd or shield here, or even the "typical" wondrous items. In truth, you probably won't have any idea what's on the other side of the door.

Aura House

  • Type: House of Leisure (service)
  • Guild Member: No
  • Description: Aura House is a large hall filled with comfortable furniture, fine foods, and exceptional libations. Unlike a common tavern, it is a members-only establishment funded through annual dues. Those interested in joining must be sponsored by a current member. The membership dues are known only to those who pay them, but they are most assuredly substantial.
  • Notability: For as many deals done in a storefront or meeting space, just as many are made at a corner table over a glass of fine wine. Aura House is always fully stocked with the finest drinks from around Winderia, and local businesspeople bring their traveling clients here to impress them.

Clover Bank Co.

  • Type: Bank & Exchange (shop)
  • Guild Member: No
  • Description: Clover Bank Company manages a large percentage of the smaller customer accounts in Mystryl, including small businesses and some working-class families slowly trying to accumulate wealth.
  • Notability: Clover Bank has historically been seen as fair and consistent with all customers, but lately, it has given increasingly favorable terms to richer potential customers to try to bring in wealth and grow their reputation. The owners believe this is a better gamble for growth than backing the young Banking Guild.

Twilight Concert Hall

  • Type: Club (service)
  • Guild Member: Yes
  • Description: Due to the citizens' keen interest in enjoyment as cultural expression, the Entertainers Guild emerged to fill a need. Guild members joined together to create a performance "sub-district" inside the Merchant District, and the Twilight is the most popular venue. The stage can host just about anything, but it specializes in music performance. Bards aren't considered to have made it until they've played the Twilight.

The Common Knights

  • Type: Hired Help, Team — Brutes & Brawlers (service)
  • Guild Member: Yes
  • Description: The Common Knights is a young but growing guild of melee specialists offering their services to clients of all kinds. Their "offices" in Mystryl are located inside an old storefront in the Merchant District that no other businesses were willing to buy or lease. This guild is slowly growing, with other locations popping up in the surrounding areas (including in Redmund).
