Redmund

Redmund is a trading post within the domain of Mystryl. It is approximately two days' travel east of the city along the Highway. It is large as trading posts go, with 70–80 standing structures depending on recent events. It is named after Raddin Redmund, an adventuring hero from centuries ago who retired to build a large house for weary travelers like himself. This eventually grew into the Swinging Sword Inn, one of the nicest inns found outside the major cities.
Redmund is a frequent stopover point for Highway travelers, and masses of new people visit almost every day. The permanent residents are friendly with visitors; it seems genuine rather than a ruse to increase business. And business is good. Most of the residents have enough to live a good life, and those who own the finer shops and services live comfortably. Just over half the residents are human, and the other ethnicities of Winderia are well represented among the others.
Until recently, Mystra's Sanctuary provided primary leadership of the trading post, but due to the Bilmop Xert incident, the residents do not trust the church to lead them. They have just finished local elections for a new three-person council of prominent members of the community. The current council includes Therabeth Alatar, Theymar Gill, and Kyla Uskan, all of whom own and operate three of the finest businesses in the trading post. They have no practical experience in "government," and there have been hiccups as they get up to speed.
Law enforcement consists of a small local watch. After the incident with the bandits and the Mysterious Cult, Constable Harbuck Tuthmar was allowed to hire a deputy (Irene Remeco) and recruit a handful of volunteers to keep an eye on things. Crime is uncommon; some in the trading post have run into a pickpocket or heard about a robbery, but it's a noteworthy occurrence when they do. Beyond crime, the most common danger to the trading post and the outlying farms is attacks from monsters and monstrous humanoids.
