Creating an Echo

If you've never created an Echo before, take a moment to make a book keeping thread if you haven't already. If you have multiple characters, we recommend making one thread per character to keep things organized, but otherwise, you're free to approach it as you see fit so long as it's easy for staff to search and audit if/when necessary.    To begin, you need both a Ruby Tear and an item you wish to turn into an Echo. The item can be whatever you want, even a mundane item, so long as it's not an existing Echo, a Hoard Item, an Astral Link item, nor any item on Chromatia’s Complete Restriction list. It can be any mundane item if you want.   If you don't know how to obtain a Ruby Tear, it's simple - go join a mission or run your own and make some memories!   After you've chosen the ruby tear you want to use, choose a Core Augment. This is a magic score your Echo permanently carries unlike those you would normally purchase for other items. This bonus grows with the item as you continue to tune it, but be mindful that matching Core Augments from multiple Echoes do not stack. You can't benefit from two Armor Echoes, just like any other stacking effect of the same name.
  • Armor. The Echo grants an AC bonus. An Echo with this augment overrides the AC bonus of other magic armors (such as dwarven plate) you choose to wear while the Echo is equipped. This does not affect other magic items that enhance AC, such as magic shields or accessories like the ring of protection
  • Spell. The Echo grants a bonus to spell attack rolls and requires attunement if it didn't already. This does not effect your spell damage or spell save DC.
  • Weapon. The Echo grants a bonus to attack and damage rolls for weapons, unarmed strikes, and natural weapons. An Echo with this augment overrides the bonus of other magic weapons you may be using, including items like the insignia of claws and eldritch claw tattoo (which otherwise modify unarmed strikes).
The value of this bonus is based on the Echo's Frequency, explained in the next section.
