GM Guidelines - Miscellania

Over time, our order has attempted to discern the inner workings of how the multiverse works. The answers are vague and often incomplete ... the only conclusion we've been able to come to is that it's all made up by forces beyond our control or understanding.   -The Amauni Order
Although Chromatia featured dedicated game masters who double as site administration, anyone with a story to share is welcome to organize and play their own content with other members of the community. Regular content creators may even get to the point where they are permitted to share entire worlds and pantheons with the world at large, helping to evolve the living story of Chromatia with each contribution made.   The common term for this phenomena is the "Miscellania Effect", or OOC, just "Miscellania" or "Misc" (Miscellania being a curious effect where other or new realities spontaneously emerge and conjoin themselves to the world as if they had always been there, much the same as the Erratischisms associated with Time in Chromatia). But the point is, you as a player are free to create and run your own content, your own stories, provided you stick to the below guidelines. Want to roleplay a good ol' fashioned zombie stomp and get experience for it? Go for it! Looking to hunt down a past rival and finally put them behind bars? Absolutely within reason.   With the arrival of Resonance, it's also worth noting this is a means of obtaining your own Ruby Tears without requiring staff involvement, assuming you follow the rest of the guidelines. In other words, want more tears? Make more memories! All in the name of having fun!

We Are the Voices

See the below table for an outline of what level of content you're free to make and contribute. The hierarchy is based on a combination of your Tatsu Ranking ("The Ordning") and how many Miscellania missions you've run and had approved by Chromatian Staff.   Do be aware that until you've reached a ranking of Adult and have had at least 8 missions approved, one of your characters must be present as one of the party members, and it is required to be the same character you intend to make the recipient of GM compensations.

Mission Planning Overview

Mission planning goes through the following phases, in no particular order (except staff approval). For the purposes of these guides, we'll follow each phase in the order provided.
  • Create a planning thread
  • Generate a Ruby Tear
  • Decide a format (one-shot or campaign)
  • Plan your encounter(s)
  • Decide on mission loot and rewards
  • Seek approval
  • Run the mission
After the mission is done, you as the game master gain additional compensation for the task. We know GMing takes time, effort, and planning. This is our way of saying thanks for putting in the time, and is considered wholly separate from any explicit mission rewards. We'll explain more later, but just know that running missions has its perks.   Feel free to skip to the appropriate guide below. Otherwise, use the navigation menus at the bottom of the page to switch between pages and follow our step-by-step guide to Miscellania planning.
