Church of Noric

Mythology & Lore

"Once there was shadow, A world shattered by Sin and Depravity was reborn in blood and fire. Humanity and Faunus was but the fragments of a Bygone era of Light and magnificence. Brought low by the machinations of Shadows Unknown. Noric a being of Light and Evelyis a Being of Shadow came to humanity in times of dire circumstance but the sinful nature of Life could not be quelled and Greed consumed the world renewed leaving behind the shattered remnants of today."   "With Machines and Iron Men, the Godless world is left lightless without Noric and his Valkyries of Silver Radiance. The Shadows creep ever closer, soon to bring the Machine age crumbling down. Do not seek comfort with Noric, take up your arms, forge your destinies and fight, Fight so you may pass easily into the Gardens of Everlight. Noric is with us, we shall prevail." - Unknown Preacher   Noricism is a post apocalyptic faith that rose from the ashes of the last Reckoning and in the former years before the Great War, once a religion of absolute faith and militarism has transformed after the war into a self empowerment faith. Believing themselves to be shepherds, tasked with the unifications of all peoples and of all faiths to face the Unknown Shadows. In prior Eras it was the belief of Noricists that life was a test to prove yourself in war.   Many of it's saints were great War Heroes at one point or another such as St. Venni who was a great General during the Great War and fought off over 1000 enemies on his own. The Valkyries are known Silver eyed warriors elevated to Demi goddess status and are seen as Noric's most divine Guardians. The last known 'Valkyrie' was the Grimm Reaper who slew thosuands upon thousands of Grimm in her time before suddenly disappearing.   Warning! Post Volume 3 Content!   Over the course of 2 years, Ruby became known as the New Grimm Reaper with some Noricists beginning to revere her as the next Valkyrie, even Though Ruby is completely athiestic and doesn't believe in Divinity, even when faced with it, seeing them as people with great powers. Noricists don't mind this detail as past Valkyries have had similiar beliefs before and were worshiped all the same.

Divine Origins

It is unknown exactly where the Church came from other then it was the surviving remnants of a forgotten one that existed prior to Astora's fall and 200 year reckoning that ensued afterwards. The Faith has real world resemblance to Norse faith if not christianized a little. The moderate Sect's beliefs started early through a Silver Eyed Warrior known as John Arklight who defeated the Pointiffs in armed combat and began a religious civil war.   After the Great War the Moderates were the remaining largest faction and disbanded a vast majority of Churches, refocusing their efforts and beliefsĀ  onto people, supporting people rather then preaching to them, seeing it as their divine duty. The Moderate sect was also quick to accept Faunus and people of all walks of life, slowly becoming the worlds most invisible but accepting religious order.

Cosmological Views

When it comes to creationism, Noricism were their own types of creationists but after the Great War steadily let go of their creationist beliefs and now refer to churches, seeing research done by scientists as People trying to understand the gift that is creation and embrace new ideas with a religious edge of course, though prone to it's irrationalities and fiath based thinking, it is rather progressive in that it believes in Humanity's abilites ot think and act in their own capacity.

"Believe not in just Noric, believe in yourself!"

Many great Cathedrals and Churches are dotted around the world and left largely in ruins, destroyed by War, Politics or Grimm. They are popular spots for survivors and Militaries to take refuge from the elements. Most have forgotten the ancient glories that were once housed in these overgrown husks.
