Faunus

Written by ReaverArklight

Homoanimus, Humanity's Sister Species.   It is actually unknown exactly when Faunus first evolved, Evolutionary scientists have the oldest Faunus corpse pinned to be somewhere within the 100,000 Years range, pinpointing their development roughly after a mass extinction event that cracked the continents apart and created the land masses everyone is familiar with today. Faunus since have spread across the world and become an everyday part of life.   It is unknown why Faunus Evolved the way they do but they're often thought to be better adapted to the world around them thanks to their hardier biology, common Night vision and unique traits depending on the type of Faunus they are. They also have the ability to use semblances just like humans and are just as innovative and intelligent. Sadly they are not at the same level as Humans due to global suppression from the Human Majority.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Outside of the Animal features a few changes, their anatomy is generally the same, Aqua Faunus can sometimes have gills. Extra ears tend to be Range amplifiers rather then fully self sufficient ears, mostly dude to a lack of room for 2 sets of Ear organs.

Biological Traits

All Faunus have 1-3 Animal features usually, such as Blake who only has the ears when her mother has ears and a tail and he father her father having cat fangs and claws. Other Faunus can easily pass as Homotypical when others cannot. Most Faunus have night vision but some  do not or at least a lesser version of it.  Other then that, Faunus are virtually indistinguishable from Humans aside from slightly more durable skeletons and don't have that many vulnerabilities to cancer.   They also have different Skin colours just like their Human Counter parts that coincide with the Homotypical version of that same ethnicity.

Genetics and Reproduction

Most Faunus tend to have the same Reproduction cycles and Period cycles as Humans except some Faunus types may have Heat seasons. The best way to explain it is that it's a more intense version of baby fever. That said despite stereotypes, Faunus under going heat do not lose themselves and can act perfectly normal in social situations.

Growth Rate & Stages

They grow like humans for the most part, the added strength and bone endurance can mean that Faunus Kids can be hardier then Typical Kids but they can also develop their own biological short comings through bad sleep, bad diets, abuse and what not.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Faunus can eat Human foods but sometimes certain Faunus can eat animal food, for instance in a tight bind a Canine Faunus can get by on dog food for a small while but obviously will eventually get sick and likely hate the demeaning feeling. Another benefit is that some Faunus have better stomachs, Feline Faunus can get away with eatting dodgier food but will obviously be largely unpleased by the whole thing.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They're spread out all over the world but the type of Faunus you are might affect where you want to live, for instance Aqua Faunus like living near water and Reptile ones tend to have vulnerabilities to lower temperatures forcing them to live in warmer climates or wear warmer clothes.

Average Intelligence

They're about as intelligent as Homosapians and do not possess any measurable natural advantage over humans and vice versa in this field, some people believe they're smarter simply because they have animal features that let them approach situations differently from a typical human.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They're often thought to have better senses and while A Faunus has more options like Night Vision, a Faunus person can be just as blind and ignorant of their surroundings as a Typical person.
Estimated Total Population
3.6 Billion
Genetic Ancestor(s)
Scientific Name
Homoanimus
Origin/Ancestry
Apes
Lifespan
70 Years (Without Gene Therapy)
Average Height
5'6 - 5'10 (Women)   5'9 - 6'1 (Men)
Average Weight
55 - 99 KG (Women)   70 - 100 KG (Men)
Average Physique
Slightly stronger skeletons and animal features means that Faunus on average are stronger but they're not unbeatably superior, a well trained Typical Human can still best them physically most of the time.
