Congregation of Joy
Contrary to what it would like to believe, the Congregation of Joy is not a renegade order of the Adepta Sororita but rather a band of chaos fanatics whose political and military organization is a crude parody of the saints orders of the sisters of battle.
The congregation nevertheless represents the first chaos sisterhood to come into existence. It is in fact exclusively made up of women subject to the will of Slaanesh, whom they believe is in reality an incarnation of a single god.
To the members of the Covenant, the God-Emperor of Mankind, the other Chaos Gods, and even the Xenos deities are merely aspects of the greater entity that is the Prince of Pleasure. Thus all the Sororita Hereticus of this congregation are convinced of always being faithful to the god emperor unlike the corrupt imperium that they fight.
The age of apostasy pushed an overly progressive order of the adepta sororita into exile in the eye of terror hunted by other, more puritanical orders. The new recruits who came to replenish the ranks of this dying order brought blasphemy and madness.
Today the Congregation of Joy is a conglomeration of sectarian lodges grouped around a decision-making college made up of the 12 major lodges. This political organization has proven to be durable despite the numerous obscure intrigues leading to the glory of one lodge or the disappearance of another. These struggles for influence are commonplace within the congregation. They cause thousands of deaths each year to satisfy the unhealthy ambitions of a few within their own lodges.
The citadel that houses the Covenant's fighters is a hell of perversion, lost in the eye of terror on a treacherous planet, as devious as the maniacs who inhabit it.
