History of the Solars

There were ten primordials in the beginning. Each holding power over their own domains, and each had two original followers, their solars. There have only ever been twenty solars at a time. The first solars were:
Primordial 1st Solar 2nd Solar
The Giver Rao Omniel
The Keeper Achus Madan
The Arbiter Tempate Eldath
The Devourer Ekhaa Diapthorae
The Child Steltiel Cassiel
The Maelstrom Zakum Salathiel
The Fiend Asmodeus Angrozul
The Titan Empyrean Boel
The Controller Ioulaum Azael
Nothing is known of the Watcher's solars, this knowledge has been lost to time.

The Second Age

The shortened cycle of life and death persisted between the Giver and the Keeper until the Arbiter demanded change. She gave Tempate to the Keeper as an offering in order to for him to allow mortals to live full lives. Behind her back the Keeper forced Tempate to merge with Achus, forming Tempus the god of war. Knowing the lack of solars among the cosmos the Keeper taught Tempus how to raise others to the rank of solar. Tempus went on to promote the planetars Zariel and Derabe as his solars and the three spread war among mortal civilizations throughout the planes.   Upset and feeling betrayed the Arbiter petitioned the Giver to take her other solar, Eldath, to create a rival for tempus and spread peace and prosperity. Against the will of the Giver, Rao stepped up willing to join Eldath in his pursuit. Together Eldath Rao formed the god of peace and he too raised solars of his own inRaphael and Micah before setting out for the planes to clean up behind Tempus' war path.   Over the following millennia, the Fiend's stirrings caused a rift between Asmodeus and Angrozul. While remaining under the employment of the Fiend, the two created their own realms and factions and began amassing armies to wage war against one another. Asmodeus, King of the Hells and father of devils began his ongoing clash against Angrozul, Queen of chaos, and her armies of demons.

The Third Age

After the Giver left and the Keeper followed leaving behind Sirrion to maintain light, and Shara Takhisis, Chemosh Kelemvor, and Lozitar to control darkness and death, Tempus was left with the crown title as King of the Dead. His three siblings, jealous, fought their brother for the throne resulting in The War of the Heavens.

The Fourth Age

During this time the sheer explosiveness of divine power from full force attacks between gods, the destruction of planes and the death of angels created an environment ripe for the creation of several more gods, including Heironeous Tyr, and Paladine. Afraid that the Keeper's remaining solar would back Tempus for the thrown, Shara Takhisis slayed Madan and raised Kakabel as her own solar. Feeling the excess power during the ascension, Kakabel explained that there was room for two more solars within the heavens. Taking advantage of this Shara had Lozitar elevate Galgalael as his own solar, and Chemosh raised Myadil from his ranks to the level of solar.   Through the war Sirrion and Eldath Rao's son Aureon Celestian were asked to stay in tune with the happenings of the war as they were the only ones with the power to withhold a solar from either side in the case of further solar casualties. To the glee of the gods of good, Derabe, Myadil, and Galgalael fell in combat to their opponents. Cassiel, solar of the Child, was caught in the crossfire of the war and similarly fell. Quick on the draw Sirrion took his trusted generals Igniel and Raduriel as his solars, and Aureon Celestian took Ina and Malkizid as his solars.   In time Sharas took the visage of Aureon and tricked Malkizid into working against Aureon's plans. Aureon did not wish to work with an unclean solar and had Ina brand him across the forehead before casting him from the heavens. Shara used this opportunity to bring Yofiel to the rank of solar. She then brought Yofiel and Kakabel together and slew them both with a single blade, capturing their essence within it.   She went on to use the Solar Blade to slay Tempus in battle on the final material plane, resulting in the end of the war of the heavens and the signing of the treaty of the prime material.

The Fifth Age

To secure the peace lasts, Paladine took Gabriel as his solar and Heironeous Tyr helped Viryn ascend to the same level.   With no patron, Zariel was no longer welcome in the heavens. She became the last bastion and living memory of the god of war and was eventually cast out of the heavens. With an insatiable bloodlust and immense powers among the mortals she was unsatisfied. She eventually descended to the hells to watch the Blood war continue. Enraptured, she contacted Asmodeus and pleaded with him to allow her to fight with him. After testing her mettle on the battlefield she quickly rose in the ranks and became an Archdevil leading forces against the demons. Committed to the devil's triumphs Zariel sought out Malkizid who had spend his banishment traipsing through the fey wild. She invited him to fight with her and soon he too ascended to the rank of Archdevil.   With the loss of Zariel, there was an opening among the ranks of the solars. Gilean Oghma used this opportunity to bring Gladriel into the ranks to help him document knowledge and spread it around the world.
