Started to become fascinated by the morbid; Bugs, snakes, death, monsters and the stories of terrible Fae and the Calamity itself. When he brought home a mug with a large millipede in it he got into an argument with Jraenice, what looked like an offhand squabble between children wasn't stopped in time as Heidan inadvertently threw the millipede at Jraenice while trying to show her how cool it is, causing his sibling to fight back swinging and with a hard push sent Heidan into the side of a bubbling cauldron of stew face first, permanently scarring half of his face.

Officially started working at the Inn after failing to keep other jobs down, his dour tone, scarred face and grim sense of humour not winning him any friends. He would continue to indulge his interests with the dark and terrible, frequently seeking out history books detailing dark deeds or befriending scarred veterans to coax out stories that keep them up at night.
36 years old
Heidan turned his macabre hobby into a job as his professional digging into history caught the eye of the Cobalt Soul, his younger siblings taking up slack of the work back home. He began to work as a researcher at the Rexxentrum Archive, his interest in the darker corners of history letting him work tirelessly for a needy clientele.
57-59 years old
Heidan was personally hired for a job he initially found fascinating, he was to gather the relevant information alongside the evidence of a noble death in the recent years. In his dedication to detail he began to piece together parts that weren’t supposed to be noticed, finding the start of a conspiracy or crime. Putting his eye the other way towards his employer it became clear this was no legitimate investigation, simply one to continue the facade of law being followed. Heidan quickly gave what he had found for the job and, concerned about his safety, signed up for expeditions to go out into the field. He kept in touch with his family by letters, simply telling them that work was taking him away and "you always told me to follow my heart".

Employment
The Pickled Guard Inn - Established for 216 years in the Eastern Scatters of Nogvurot near the Aegis Block, active prior for 61 years as The Silver Plum Tavern. Beranti and Murtu married and started the business, early in it's days a large fight broke out which was broken up by the off duty guard Gertrude Bluth, saving Beranti's life (or at least stopping him being badly hurt) in the process. She was promised ale for life there, being a debt paid up until her death where she requested to be buried in a barrel of their finest. The establishment was renown amongst the local guard and militia by this time and was renamed The Pickled Guard in her honor, the sign changing from a shined metal plum to a barrel with a local guard helmet left atop it.
Mental Trauma
The trauma he underwent as a child imbued his morbid interests with a heavy weight of nihilism, accepting the visible scarring will be with him for likely centuries. As his appearance tends to inspire a similar response to his interests, he disregards change or tragedy as something negative, instead seeing it as something that simply is and not worth exhausting emotion over.
Intellectual Characteristics
Heidan is entertained by knowledge, the existence of books taking any dedication he might have to commit everything to memory to instead keeping track of where he might be able to find whatever information he needs.
