The Legend of Deltavros

by Luce

Deltavros was the king of Temidaea (known today as the "Ruins of Temidaea").

All night, we were followed by a fair-haired, tall male human in a dark blue cloak -- one of the Children of Loscipulus.

The Fall of Temidaea

"History says, after Deltavros departed from Temidaea -- which was under the rule of his unnamed son -- a curse fell upon the island: disease spread, crops withered and died, water became undrinkable. People abandoned the place and resettled amidst the Daltavarian Sea."

"No one dares sail near Temidaea, due to the cursed mist that shrouds the island."

Lord Rohrouk is a twunk.

Late-Night Reading

Eragon and an invisible Cassandra headed to the temple of the Knowing One, for its library. There they overheard the Champions of the Sisters Isles inside, and eventually found them in possession of The Fantabulous Tales of Deltavros.

Fairytales

The voice in Cassandra's ring, Thelonius, told her of a book read to him in his childhood, The Fantabulous Tales of Deltavros. In it, there was some note about the fiftieth member of Deltavros' crew who joined from Tier Shannigray (Thelonius calls the homeland of the elves "barbaric"). The only other note Thelonious had for Cassandra was that Deltavros sailed to the Raven Queen's home (?), the land of the dead:

The Ink-Black Sea and the Soul of Roison. He was the aforementioned sailor whom Deltavros sailed to the land of the dead to save/brink back from death.

Deltavros' Journey

Cassandra and Lord Rohrouk discussed over what placed would have been in Deltavros' time the undiscovered regions of Deltavaria. Rohrouk's homeland is one of those places, as well as Avrios', though neither seems approachable at the time of writing. Senescal, Dekelia (lizardfolk), Lisadaur were all mentioned.

We know Deltavros left Temidaea.

Eragon also speaks of the Great Brass Dragon whom Deltavros befriended while seeking a powerful magical object -- a spear.

The Route

Our plan is to sail from Forcalish with the currents, around Teir Shanigray, for the ruins of Temidaea. After investigating that dark place, we wish to travel farther northwest to (either) Patronia or Petronia, and dock for supplies. From there, we can head back into the middle of the Sea and decide our next move(s).

The Shortreef

The four-decked ship is owned by Captain Gerats, a privateer in service to Teregos. The crew is 29-man strong:

Captain Layna Gerats, a half-orc privateer of Teregos with enough renown (and good looks) to be known to Luce by name alone (she's a rough-n-tough-but-sensible type
1st mate Dorner Vagot, an entire smol kind country boy-type;
Quartermaster Selkasys, a pink-haired gnomish woman who is too busy and too important to be bothered;
Bosun Akachi, a quiet and clean-cut man who keeps to himself; and
Cook Twizzer, a three-foot male were-rat.

The crew confirmed that, according to legend, Deltavros and the Moon-Weaver boned.

To Sea!

For just this time / we will take the northwest passage

The journey to the ruins of Temidaea took us eight days:
1. The journey started off with smooth seas. Calm winds at night...
2. Led to red skies in the morning: sailors take warning. The storm hit us late morning, and didn't let us for several days.
3. The storm raged all day, though we and the crew managed to prevent any meaningful damage to the Shortreef.
4-8. Once the storm cleared early in the morning of our fourth day at sea, it as well as the rest of the trip to the ruins of Temidaea.

The Ruins of Temidaea

On that eighth day we came upon Temidaea -- or more accurately, we drew close to the mists of the isle. I, with Avrios pulling as he swam, rowed us to shore.

"The air is thick with death" - Cassandra.
