07 The Great Sycamore

by Ember Oakheart

Our party of explorers currently consists of myself, Amiri, Cherilyn, Ikori, Octavia, and Zira.

We went to the Old Sycamore to kill Tartucio. Near the giant tree, an army of kobolds was standing ready to battle an army of mites. The kobolds believe the mites stole their relic. They both have a relic that is used in the dungeon beneath the tree. Seeing as I did not know, nor care, about their situation. But I want to bring Tartucio to justice, and I knew that he had somehow turned into a purple kobold and was leading the kobolds astray.

I asserted that it was he who had stolen the relic, which is a good guess based on how he had ransacked the Elven tomb. The kobolds did not want to believe me, having fallen for his pathetic lies as had Jamandi Aldori. I have to admit that has greatly diminished my respect for her. She is so foolish and easy to manipulate. That makes her a very weak ruler. Ikori used her zone of truth to help establish truth. I talked some sense into them, and they agreed to a non-aggression pact while we investigate.

After exploring their dungeon home, kobolds to one side, mites to the other, we found Jaethal, who had been working with Tartucio until he turned on her. She was a captive of the kobolds, and we freed her. I asked her why she did not kill him herself. She claimed that she had wanted to. She pledged to help us, and if she does not we will kill her again and send her to her evil god.

We found Tartucio's journal. What an idiot, he was proud of his stupid plot, putting it in writing so he could read it later and feed his greatly exasperated ego. It is even more pathetic in such a small, wretched creature. Maybe being so weak is why he is so wretched. We showed the evidence to the kobolds and mites, stopping their current aggression.

Tomorrow, we will put an end to that tiny cowardly kobold-gnome slime.
