Falcon Contract - Final Day of Travel

by Rhaza

Brother,

We've made our way most of the way through the desert. The professors say we should reach these ruins by sometime tomorrow. I'm ready to be back in civilization, at least in some way. Most of the travel ranged from boring to terrifying, all of it in the harsh conditions of the cliffs and desert.

It wasn't all bad. The views from high on the cliff were unlike anything I've seen. Endless stars without another person in sight for miles. And complete silence. No distant sounds of merchants or muffled shouting. I liked the view out, but the view down worried me too much to appreciate.

It might surprise you to know that the cliffs actually have people living in them, although they aren't human like us. Not dragonborn either. They were some kind of dog-like group of people. Even the smaller ones were the size of Sobek. A group of around 7 chased us on all fours and effectively surrounded us, took us for most of our gold and some of our supplies. You would think that as a noble, Thornheart would know the drill for being robbed, but it was apparently his first time. We made it out with enough supplies, though.

It wasn't worse than this scorpion in the desert. Apparently some of our group saw something metallic, something shiny in the middle of the sand dunes. Nothing is ever that easy. The dragonborn jumped into this small boat he brought to travel the downhills, and barely escaped being crushed by a giant claw. He managed to avoid getting hurt too badly. As it turns out, the chains around Trystan's arms are also more than just symbolic. With luck, I will be on a sand boat back to the city with the Falcon's gold.
