Checking the board for work, I see a potential quest. Apparently, there is a spirit issue in the hills. Having been grave touched gives me a benefit with dealing with spirits. Asking for help, I get 3 new adventurers. Maltrixxian, whom was vague about what he is. Valric, also vague. A rabbit, a race I have never run across before is a mage/lock.
Upon arriving at the location we are confronted by a Spirit Wolf. His name is Valthorn. He asked us about receiving a gift of power and proceeded to test us. Kelemvor spoke of tests of life that he would judge me on, so this appeared to be my fate.
Before I could do anything, A ghost possessed me and force me to attack my associates. The worst part was my mind seemed to be pushed aside to where I could watch, but could do nothing. Luckily, the ghost could not use my spells. Valric, whom I thought was a rogue, cast Hold Person on me. This forced the ghost to leave me and take Valric through possession. I was then able to turn the ghost. This gave us the advantage we needed to defeat the undead.
It was this moment I understood the wolf spirit wasn't malevolent, but testing us to see if we were worthy of his gifts. This was a test of spirit
Next was a test of sacrifice. A room with a large statue of an Elf and Wolf with 4 pillars. I asked Valthorn if the statues were Valthorn and his companion in life. The wolfs reaction appeared so. We each had to sacrifice a personal resource to activate the door. This was the test, to freely give of ourselves.
Next was a test of perception, insight. This test I failed miserably. Ironic since these are skills I was proficient at. The test taught me a valuable lesson in being over confident. The cost of my over confidence put the whole party in danger. A hard lesson to learn indeed. We were forced to battle Valthorn. This created great sorrow for me. Such a proud and magnificent beast. Ironically, it was I who made the final blow. Valrhorn disappeared at the strike, but then reappeared to us. He granted us a boon for our success. We are able to summon his assistance once a day. This makes my heart soar. I feel the ability to see him daily will create grant me great wisdom.
I asked him if there was a message to deliver and he said, "Tell Aric Stoneclaw to seek the bow."
This is my next quest, to seek Aric and give him the message from Valthorn.
