Deepfathom Well where Void Water is farmed, seems to be experiencing violence out of the ordinary. We are volunteering to investigate. Freya, the Drow, is once again a part of the party. A couple new people are with me this time. Thrawn, an Elven paladin and Malikai, a dour sort of fellow. He didn't seem to share what his expertise was.
Sitting in the Falling Rod Tavern seems to be the beginning. A salty place on the outskirts of the mine. Gendra appears to have been a miner in town, but it appears an accident has made her retire to barkeep. She points us to the upstairs were we meet the woman this mine is named after. While talking, the doors blast open and cultists of the Black Sun invade. One sitting upstairs reveals himself just in time for me to put two bullets in his chest. The Paladin says a prayer giving us favor. There appears to be 10 of them against the bar. Most of the bar is drunk. Several patrons have fallen. Malakai sprinted through the tavern with a long sword, and dispatched 2 of them. Still not sure what he is? We appear to be winning, but the cultists are not fighing us, they are slaughtering the drunks have unable to stand. I drop the leader with a flurry of shots. The rest fall easily.
Searching the bodies of the cultists, we find out that they were once a part of the community. Malakai makes an unwarranted joke about the death sprawled through the bar. Im not liking this guy so far.
A detailed search of the leader finds that he had a tatoo of the light, covered, with a black sun.
Further investigation yields little. WE head to the mine. Impressive mining technology, but I seem to understand how it works, and I prevent the drill from being engaged. We take the elevator down 150 feet. I see 5 figures.
IT'S ON!
Two ghouls assail me. I kill one, and knock the other back into the muck. The separation allows me to get distance.
Undead.... Ghouls and a Ghast. Having a Paladin is fortunate! OMG! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT! An abomination just crawled out of the muck. It's a black pudding. Spell casters handle it easily.
We found a book that implicated Aleith Skyborn. Heading back to the church in town we found that Aleith Skyborn had attacked the city leaders and killed most. After healing, we found that Skyborn had fled. Following her downstairs, it appears some psychic force had taken control and turned them evil. The priest was a handful, but was defeated.
That just left us with the psychic entity. It turned out a battle of wits was all that was needed. All night I was spot on with my pistols, but now, it was mind over matter. It wasn't easy, but I was successful.
It appears to be over, but one never knows. The party worked well together. We seemed to jell well. Who knows.
