The Bounding of the Bulette

by Silas

We have left Solitude behind and the burning ruins of Deadplains with it. We enter into the season of Rebirth and Sorewood.

Job: Recover three books ordered for the Semi-Public Library. Some sort of beast seems to have intercepted the materials. Payment: Detailed Map of the Area, 1 Story, 2 Secrets

The library belongs to Ferros Sloweye. Though it is questionable on whether to really consider it a library. It lacks the books for that. Ferros is a member of the Orushan Order though. I suppose all collections have to start somewhere. The walls of the library are covered with Ferros’s notes.

There seems to be a criminal element in town connected to Rich Bank. Some ilk named Onevia Limbtwister seems to be involved.

We left Sorewood early and set up camp late. I noticed a strange dark-feathered owl during my watch. It had one gold piece in its nest strangely.

The delay of delivery had turned out to be from the interference of a Bulette. It nearly crushed me. It felt like a close thing. I found myself actually frightened. One more good blow could have taken me out. What would it be to die? To no longer experience? To no longer go forward? To no longer be frightened?

We buried the 3 souls that the bulette had killed. The same owl from the night before was watching us. Apparently, Orusha is associated with owls. Curious about that connection.

We arrived back late. Met a charming young dwarven fellow named Rannik Glaze who was selling pastries out of an alleyway. Apparently, the council wouldn’t let him set up his own shop. Which upon trying his wares, is a travesty.

He gave me this sort of Green Tea Cupcake. It was sort of earthy but had these sweet, mellow undertones. The pastry had a gentle dusting of matcha, with a supple whipped meringue filling. It took me to places I had never been before. I imagine a cabin on the side of a snow-covered hill. The door is open, a brief wisp of tobacco smoke dancing out. I know I can’t go through the door. If I entered, I could never leave. But oh how it tempts me.
