The Witch's Tale

After experiencing the long night in Burgundy, my new Friends and I were invited to Lady Eta's estate in France. There, she explained that there was another whose plans opposed her own. This other was a witch named Lady Thitan. Lady Thitan had once been banished, to the Other side. Now she seems to be working some plague, or sickness to kill many across France. Lady Eta tasked us with putting a stop to Thitan's plans.
We traveled north to a small town where Thitan was rumored to be. There we heard stories of a Scotsman. So we journeyed into the forest to find this Scotsman. When we did, he revealed to us that he had been hired by Thitan as a galloglas. to protect her. Nilus then fought him in a dual and lost. Unwilling to accept defeat Nilus kept fighting. Forcing the Galloglas to kill him. We secured Nilus's possessions, to be returned to him. While we were attending to the burial of Nilus's body Soren wanted to rush Galloglas as a group and defeat him. To aid in this I started casting a protection spell. Seeing my actions Galloglas charged us before I could cast my spell. Soren and Tousine deftly defeated Galloglas.
Progressing further we discovered an entrance to a cave. Outside the cave the nearby trees were covered in crows. Soren scouted the area. When he returned he seemed confused, talking about some lady in white. While we were discussing his experience we noticed that the sun had begun to set. Some how more time had passed than we expected. Soren then began to charge towards the cave. Following his movements I then noticed that one of his swords was planted in the ground outside of the cave. Soren recovered his sword, then went into the cave. returning a few minutes later, with a warning. Ignoring the warning the whole group matched into the cave, to confront the Witch. We decided that we would attempt to reason with her. If we could not come to some accord only then would we resort to violence.
When we entered the cave we found dead things. Small creatures at first, then a man. After finding the remains of a man we noticed some rhythmic moaning. Lifting our torches and looking into a pit we saw a group of naked women huddled and moaning as if in pain. As one the women turned to look at us, and spoke with one voice. In this manner our negotiations with Tritan began. We learned that she planned to sacrifice the lives of the nearby town in order to complete her ritual. This ritual was intended to protect Avalon forever. She was unwilling to change or alter her plans. Eventually negotiations devolved. I then devised a plan to extract the women one at a time and break whatever enchantment was in place. Then deal with the remaining Thitan directly. As I was explaining this plan Rashidi reported a cauldron with a strange brew. I proceeded to analyze the brew. I was in someway magical. So I dispelled the magic about it. Thitan began to up her antics. Encorcelling tousine and Soren in order to lure them into the pit with her. Most of the party stayed as far away from the pit as they could. We then lowered me into the pit to extract a woman. I did detect magic about her. I was also able to dispel that magic. When I went to get another woman I was caught by Thitan's charms. I briefly slipped into a dream. I dreamed of home. I remembered how great home was, and how great it was when King Arthur was around. I came to some time later, held in Thitan's embrace. Reinhert was there standing over her. Coming to my sense more fully I assisted Sir Reinhert in subduing Thitan. At first the party want to kill her then and there. I encouraged them to seek another path. Saying if we removed her then she could not complete the ritual. We did not need to kill her to do this. So we bound her, gagged her, and covered her eyes with cloth. I then dispelled all magics about her.
We carried Thitan and one of the women back towards the town with us. Soren continued on to the town with the woman we saved to return her home. We rested in an abandoned vineyard. We spent a few days ther regaining our strength. After several days the party became restless and decided that the Witch needed to be dealt with. They wished to return Thitan to the town to be burned. I told them I wanted no part in it.
The entire experience left me tired, frustrated, and exhausted. Caught between Thitan, who only wanted to protect her home, and my word to Lady Eta. Though Thitan was killing hundreds of people in the hopes of protecting her home, it was hard not to understand her view point. When eventually the group voted to kill her, I felt powerless. I dont like feeling powerless. I will take Lady Eta's offer and boons. I will leverage these earning to build up my power base. In a couple of generations I will amass the power I need to not feel powerless again.
