[The others poke around at the door to the study, discovering not only the spectre but also a couple of small creatures hidden in the shadowy corners. The spectre finishes whatever it was doing in the study and returns to the hall, where Rhen attempts to engage in conversation. The spectre shouts for them to get out of her house, slamming all the doors and windows of the house shut.]
From my perch on the roof, I hear screeching from downstairs as the doors and windows slam shut. I have to break a window to join the others, just in time to watch them destroy the spectre. [Rhen and Alishei] open the door to the library, and the pair of imps there are quickly dispatched. Exploring the rest of the third floor, we find nothing of significant interest except for a tiny water elemental Rhen found and managed to capture.
Moving on to the attic, where I know there's a storeroom, we find a cramped corridor with a heavily reinforced and locked door. The locks are rusty but simple, and [Alishei] and I are easily able to pick them. Inside is the skeletal body of a follower of Lythander, or so we believe after finding a book of prayers to that deity. The others are determined to take the body to the temple of Lythander, believing it to be the body of the spectre. Apparently the best way to get rid of such a creature is to find the remains of its mortal form and give it a proper burial. Hopefully they're right, because I really don't like the idea of that
thing reappearing. After delivering the body to the temple of Lythander, the others report what we found to the nearest Watch post, which happens to be just inside the graveyard. As we're leaving, a funeral procession heads toward the guardhouse. I notice the lid of the coffin moving and something reaching out, so I do what any sensible adventuring wanderer does: I shoot it. Seems the "funeral procession" was just a way to get close to a guardhouse, because their primary target seems to be the guardhouse. Most of them are easy to take out, but there's a mage that seems to be resistant to most of our attacks. He eventually goes down, however, and the others search his body.
