Modar's Journal: Working 9 to 5

by Modar

Lots of little stuff this week, but nothing really worth writing down. Terrance was able to move the goods we liberated and we a fair amount, my share was a little over 500p. I bought a little extra protection, money can't buy your life back after all, but all in all a nice edition to the nest egg.

Flux sent his new wheels to pick me up - he is so screwed. Fancy threads, new ride, new digs in precinct 1, servants all the things. Maybe I'll get there one day, but blowing that kind of money from a one off transaction is not a smart move. I offered to help if he needed someone to manage his books, but he'll crash and burn first. Who knows, maybe our luck will hold and he won't be enslaved for eternity to pay for some temporary bling.

Anyway, the day proceeded, on our way to the Church of the Saturday Saints shop we came across the oddest thing, new spirits without a guide, wandering around lost. Seems very, very odd, but we were in a hurry to follow up on the Cindy lead, so I sent them on their way.

At the church Flux was the goblin I have come to know. He created a massive disruption while I pumped Veronica for gossip. We were able to follow up with Cindy based on the info, but I think the PUD (ed: potentially useful dirt) was actually more valuable. It seems like the Pastor Nolson and so guy Jimmy have a little side hustle and Jimmy isn't giving as might be appropriate. Another fellow named Harold seems to be more about molesting the pretty ones than managing cash flow.

Unfortunately, Flux's disturbance went too far and Pastor Nolson got involved. I tried the pull rank and intimidate him but overplayed my hand. He doesn't know who we are, but I am sure he can figure it out, how many goblin enforcers are there? I am going to try to out play him around his embezzling, I planted the seed with Rasputin, now just to make sure there is plenty of evidence. I am sure Flux will help me out.

Got to Ciny's place, she lives right next to Sebastian, and it is obvious he has the hots for her. I think its cute, Flux was a little put off though. Anyway, I earned her trust and she was helpful. He was making some sort of bracelet. Not sure it was a clue or a sign of his feelings. What is a clue though is his love of fishing at weird times and places.

We stopped by Rasputin's place on the way to check out the fishing spot, Flux got in some sort of fisticuffs, but I just got in and out, keeping the Nolson thing a bit casual.

Had an hour or two to kill before meeting with Terrance and the club so took a quick look at the fishing spot. It was clearly used by Sebastian, but wasn't workable when we visited. Have to come back late ant night to get what we need, I think. That said, I am super glad we came by during the day - found a lost paper with a ton of info on it. It looks like recovery is going to be difficult, but it spells out a lab and I am pretty sure some of its secrets. The level of security the paper suggest also might explain some of the divination issues.

Flux and I went to meet up with Terrance at the club. Flux almost got us in a fight with the bouncers. It might have been fun, but you can't make a good impression from the clink so I bailed. I was a bit bummed that Flux wandered off to hang out with his new super rich "peers". It would have been good for his career for me to facilitate and introduction. That little bit of money has seriously gone to his head.

Anyway, while I occasionally saw Flux up to his random antics over in richie rich pen - including involvement in some beer fountain thing; I had a great conversation with Terrance. He loves the shoes! He seems to want more than the office life and is despairing a bit about his prospects for promotion. His debts are getting him down too. I think I can help him find a place to dance, and maybe a lead or 2 on a place in precinct 3 . I know he is underselling himself on a pontiff slot. We will see. Having an insider has been helpful, but the better positioned he is and the more he owes me, the more he can help me.

At the end of the at, I helped get Flux back to his mansion - he totally sloshed himself.
