Laya Tusbu was the mother of Alaea & Sansho Tsubu. She ruled Shiokosho City alongside her husband Piper Tsubu from 17AM - 73AM.

Her whereabouts are currently unknown. In the year 73AM she and her husband vanished without a trace. In their absence their children were forced to inherit the throne.

Personal history

Laya Sol grew up in a run down district of Shiokosho City. While her family wasn't well off things could have been a lot worse. A local gang that called themselves The Chosen were ruled the district, making others do their bidding. When Laya's family didn't have enough money to pay The Chosen's tax they sold Laya to them instead.

Laya was worked to death in The Chosen, gathering supplies, smithing, and whatever task they could put her to. Most buckled under the pressure and died but Laya's hatred for her family and The Chosen kept her going strong. Over the next few decades she made her way up The Chosen's ranks, eventually becoming a Scythe, an elite member of The Chosen tasked with carrying out high end dirty-work. She assassinated many nobles over the next few years until one day she was assigned the ultimate task: to kill Piper Tsubu, the current King of Shiokosho City.

The plan was executed perfectly and Laya found herself in the King's royal chambers. She could have done it. Could have killed him right then and there while he slept. But she didn't. Instead, she took a gamble.

Laya purposefully woke up Piper and sat on the edge of his bed. She explained her intentions and invited Piper to call out for guards. Or, if she were to become Queen, she would give information about The Chosen's whereabouts and involved members. After much discussion, flirting, and some very thorough convincing, Piper took the latter option, turning Laya into a Queen.

Laya kept her word and The Chosen were driven out of the city. Though, Laya might have added a few extra names to the guard's hit list. Finally revenge was hers.

Laya and Piper's rule was a surprisingly peaceful one. With The Chosen out of Shiokosho the kingdom was able to flourish without worry. The Chosen still had hidden, secretive hideouts in the city, but with the guard looking out for them at all times, they were unable to do much.

In 55AM Laya gave birth to Alaea and Sansho. They were raised with the upmost care and taught how to rule the city, for one day it would be their turn.

Then, in 73AM, she vanished without a trace.

She worked for The Chosen for a short time before breaking free of their clutches and becoming Queen. No one knew she worked for The Chosen and she liked to keep it that way.

Motivation

She was fueled by hatred and revenge for most of her youth, but after becoming Queen and getting said revenge, she was motivated by her people and improving the quality of life for them.

Religious Views

Laya was a devout worshiper of Pitaya, God of Judgement, that much is certain. However, she absolutely despised The Chosen. After seeing first hand what they do and their methods of worship, not to mention what they put her through, she resented them. The Chosen believe what they're doing is just in the eyes of Pitaya. They try to mimic what they think Pitaya would want through violence and forced worship.

But Laya believed that Pitaya represented balance. Judgement. The equality of life and death, of good and evil. And while all the myths and stories painted him as the villain, Laya always thought of him as a more neutral party. One who struggled at first to balance the Material Plane, much like Kiwano did when he made the world.

Laya believed that Pitaya's judgment is sacred and his decision should be respected, not cheated or passed by by trying to win his favor.
