The Trickster

Words.
— Name

Basics

Baghánn is the Nuríian God of Trickery & Jesters, well known in many Nuríian & Náian fables. As one would expect, he is known for being a sly trickster and a cunning villain.

Description

Appearance

Baghánn appears as a slim Fae dressed in black, blue, and gold jester's attire, wearing a white festival mask of similar style and coloration. He appears to have pale skin and cyan blue fae markings, eyes to match. His hair appears to be short and brown.

Personality

Baghánn is sly and cruel, enjoying in the suffering and surprise of others. He often comes across to those who do not know him as cheerful and joyous, usually pretending to act benevolent and kind to earn their trust. But he is a compulsive liar and almost certain to betray his companions for his own entertainment, sometimes stringing them along for centuries before he turns the other cheek. Náiain fairy tales depict him always as the villain of stories, often trying to trick people into doing bad under the guies of helpfulness. He is a outright malicious being.

Powers & Domain

Baghánn's powers are far from as spectactular as many other greater god's, largely only allowing him to better trick people through illusions, sleight of hand, and other similar means. That said, his powers have made him one of the most difficult to catch deities, who is known for being able to slip away unharmed from other gods whom he's angered.

History

Baghánn was originally one of the handful of Nuríians who left their old home to follow Ort and Zhia Tyali from their old realm and into the unknown. Known even then as shady and up to no good, rumors have it that he joined the expedition as a alternative to execution in their homeland.
While he ascended early into divinity, legends state that he earned his position among the greater gods by tricking Ort into giving him the power needed. He was the first deity known to ascend into being a greater god.

Religion & Dogma

Baghánn is the patron god of tricksters and jesters, and often followed by conmen and other shady buisnessmen. Worship of him outside of Nurí is largely considered illegal or hedge-cult activity, and even inside of Nurí is often frowned upon.

    History

Bnaae and Baghánn have a very aloof relationship with each other. They are frequent to cross paths, while while they both act cordial and even friendly to each other, they aren't each other's biggest fans. Baghánn finds Bnaae's domain frustrating, as it makes it difficult to outright impossible for him to pull a fast one on her, and Bnaae knows to distrust Baghánn. All the same, the two had a one time fling that resulted in Thoḑiach. They remain cordial.

    History

Once Ort's court jester, Baghánn has since earned Ort's absolute hatred and ire when he managed to trick Ort into giving over some of his power. Though Ort never fully trusted Baghánn to begin with, even if he came from their old realm in Nurí, Baghánn's trickery into giving over a chunk of his divinity has earned Baghánn a spot on Ort's list of mortal enemies. Despite Ort's best efforts, he has been unable to get back at Baghánn or get rid of him, even in fae society.
Their relationship is a integral part to many myths and legends.

Baghánn still continues to pretend to be Zhia's friend from time to time, though it always met with a few narrowly-missed arrows.

    History

Knowing Bróbh Boíg's importance to Ort, Baghánn seeks to do whatever kind of harm he can to the wood elf, going as far as to break the sort of unspoken 'pact' among gods that Bróbh Boíg is 'off limits'. Though Baghánn is more then aware that Bróbh Boíg knows he's wicked and not to be trusted, he still pretends to be Bróbh Boíg's friend. Bróbh Boíg doesn't trust him in the slightest, but remains somewhat polite in hopes that maybe Baghánn with will give up on it.

    History

Ceátth and Baghánn despies one another. Even on their journey over from the old Faerealms, the two of them frequently butted heads and had to be separated. Baghánn had little respect for Ceátth or his things, and Ceátth did not find Baghánn and his anticts funny or charming. Things only grew worse when Baghánn stole his divinity from Ort, which Ceátth considered a slight on him as much as it was on Ort. The two since then are often at each other's throats. Baghánn finds Ceátth easy to rile up, making him a frequent target of the jester.
