Dark Elf
WordsDescended from the last Honoun moon elves that were turned to their new forms by the god Oreik, dark elves are a generally secretive subterranean race who are known for their distrust of the surface world. The nature of their origin and their general belief system means much of the surface sees them as bloodthirsty and violent, even if that is only a fragment of the truth.
The Bat Elves
Physical
Dark elves, like their moon elf predecessors, stand usually between 5'5" and 6'8". Their skin color usually ranges in dark, desaturated purples and blues - sometimes ranging to near black. Their eyes are usually a solid white or red, with purples and pinks being uncommon. Like moon elves, their hair color is almost always somewhere on the greyscale, from white to black. They tend to be sleek and elegant like their predecessors, but tend to bulk up better than moon elves do. Their larger, pointed ears are sometimes considered 'bat-like', giving them the nickname of 'bat elves'.Age & Reproduction
Dark elves live to the average age of 800, reaching their juvenile stage around 50, adulthood around 100, and old age around 500.Dark elves usually give birth to one offspring at a time, having twins and triplets more rarely than humans do. Dark elf hybrids, while genetically not any different than other elf hybrid species, are rare - culturally speaking, dark elves are rare to mingle with others, and others rarely mingle with them.
General Culture
Dark elves prefer to keep to themselves, rarely finding themselves on the surface. They have a cultural distrust of the moon, making surface-dwelling dark elves uncommon - and those who do live on the surface usually disconnected from the rest of dark elf culture. They are known for mingling the most with the Nymauti demons and ratfolk, though are no stranger to the dwarves. They are known for their more brutal practices and pantheon of more dark-leaning deities, though this does not make all dark elves inherently evil or even hostile. Though distrusting and closed, dark elves are fiercely protective of those they consider their own, dark elves or not. They are known for wearing flowing clothing made of spider silk and jewelry made of rare earth jewels. Much of their styles have clear lineage back to their Honoun roots, though they have clearly come into their own.Dark elves are accepted in underground communities, but tend to be mistrusted on the surface. They are often shunned or outright banned from some moon elf communities.
Traits
Dark elves have incredible hearing and vision, able to see in the dark and to pick up the location of small noises - even in places that echo like caves.
