Vol' Badir
Most Mountain Realms are highly autocratic, but Vol’ Badir is ruled by the Gothi of Siliko and the priesthood has deemed that democracy is more in keeping with the teachings of their patron. As such the Gothi of Siliko is an elected position, once every five years the priests of Siliko vote for the new Gothi.
However, elections are highly flawed, this is because their patron God is the God of Greed and Trickery. All manner of bribery and cheating is considered legitimate provided you don’t get caught, indeed newly elected Gothi’s brag how they cheated and won, this only proves that they were meant to be chosen by the god of tricks.
Vol’ Badir also operates their own Trade Company of merchants, but they are fairly small and must borrow the ports of other nations. Additionally, Vol’ Badir has state-sanctioned thieves, spies and assassins, many of whom are priests, they mainly operate in other countries and bring wealth back to Vol’ Badir.
Demography and Population
Around half a million citizens, mainly Hill Dwarves with minorities of Cave and Gully Dwarves. There are also Ogres and Trolls which live inside the territory of Vol' Badir, but they are not considered part of the population.
