Tapalede

Navalede: Tapalede /thaːphaːlɛːtɛ/
High-Tapalic: Tæpælid /thaiphaiːlɪt/
Tapalede or tapalic1 is one of the main languages spoken by Núrakic Elves within the Kingdom of Núrak, specifically in the southern part of Núrak, roughly coinciding with the boundaries of the ancient kingdom of Tapalas, hence the name.
The language consists of two distinct, though mutually intelligible, branches of dialects, namely low-tapalic (Mep-Tapalede) spoken primarily on the Úlvan Plain in central Þígis -the southern province of the kingdom- on one hand, and high-tapalic (Læte-Tapalede) in the Dap Hills to the east, near the Sjorgús Mountains.
Tapalede, particularly the eastern variety, has long been considered uncouth by the mostly navalede-speaking aristocracy, and exaggerated tapalic accent is the staple for comic relief among núrakic actors and other performers.
Notable features of this accent are that a [a] is replaced by æ [ai], ó [ou] by o [ɔ] and g [k] by either h (high-tapalic) or kk [hc] (low-tapalic), and a tendency to leave out the last vowel in a word.

Geographical Distribution

High-tapalic is especially prominent among common núrakic elves living in and around Arþólen, provincial capital of Þígis, and most Þígeans there as well.

Vocabulary

High-tapalic in particular contains quite a few words of þígean origin, both due to frequent contact with Larúneans back in the day and later, after Larúnas' devastation, þíegean presence in the region.

1Original icelandic: tapalska.
