Kingdom of Núrak
The Kingdom of Núrak is located in western Adynía, bordering the Sikíron Empire to the east, the Sjorgús Mountains to the southeast, Larúnas to the south and Silver Sea to the west. It encompasses the entire region of Núrak and westernmost Nemirkía. The kingdom is a major rival to the Sikíron Empire and currently locked in a cold war over territorial disputes.
History
The kingdom evolved out of a series of military alliances between the different núrakic states to fend off a number of invasions during and after the fall of the Paþarían Empire, first by tribes from northern Adynía and later the successor states of the empire. During the rise of the Sikíronian Empire, the núrakics claimed a sizable chunk of one its rivals, Pérgal, while the latter were at war with the empire. This region -called Velúsía by the núrakics and Falissía by the sikíronians- has since been a source of major contention between the two powers.Structure
Society
The Kingdom of Núrak is home to a number of ethnicities, with Núrakic Elves being most prominent, along with the elven Þígeans to the south (descendants of Larúneans who fled there after their homeland was scoured by Dragons, and the mostly human Nartens in Velúsía.Government
The royal court is located in the city of Tarúvil. The current monarch is Núrníus, but his oldest daughter Hirdína handles most of the work due to his age and declining health.Provinces
Núvar
The largest province, covers much of western and central Núrak, between Úrillía to the north, Velúsía to the east and Þígis to the south. Its major city is Tarúvil, which also serves as the kingdom's capital.Úrillía
Covers the northernmost part of Núrak, beyond the river Vakatír. Its main -and the kingdom's largest- city is New Anúvil.Velúsía
Covers the westernmost part of Nemirkía, along the upper Geþrus river. The main settlements are the provincial capital Miryn and the Nalate Academy, both located along the river.Þígis
Covers the southern part of Núrak, beyond the river Nanave. Þígis' main city is Arþólen.Military
Unlike the Sikíronian Empire, the Kingdom of Núrak has no standing army, and while its warriors are generally well trained, few of them maintain those skills during peaceful times. In war, the núrakic army consists mainly of heavy and light infantry as well as mages, along with a relatively few but skilled archers and cavalry, the latter being mostly nobles. Aside from mundane horses, a few chosen nobles are allowed to ride domesticated Sylvan Unicorns in battle, and even fewer soar through the air on Pegasi or Alicorns (offsprings of unicorns and pegasi).
