Kingdom of Requiem, Military
Requiems military is well funded but also very compartmentalised. The majority of Requiems forces are the "private" armies of the 4 lords, the Lordsmen. Requiems military structure is split but all infantry forces fall under command of the Crown Marshal. The Crown Marshal has full authority to call for the Lords to hand over command of their troops from their own Captain Commanders to the Crown Marshal.
Meanwhile, Requiems Navy, or Saltbound, is commanded by its Crown Admiral. With no other navy forces to deal with, the Crown Admiral has full control over all active warships that Requiem owns.
Requiem also commands a network of spies and agents, known as Inquisitors. The Inquisition is a small and well kept force of a dozen agents, who vote up a single leader or High Inquisitor to lead. The High Inquisitor reports to the monarch, who vets each member of the Inquisition.
Finally, Requiem has a small and elite force - the Crownsguard. This force is dedicated to the protection of the monarch and their bloodline. As with the Inquisition, only 12 Crownsguard exist at a given time, with their own elected leader - the Aegis Lord. The Crownsguard are pulled from every branch to function as Requiems most elite in soldiers.
