The TouchedThe touched are humans who have a connection to an entity of the dream realm. They experience this relationship as a sense of instinct and inspiration, dreaming the memories of their spirit. For centuries, the Undying Emperor led humankind in countless wars against the inhuman and monstrous races of the world. During the Last War, humanity succeeded in cementing human dominance across all the known lands. In the decades since the Last War, memories of the old creatures of the world have faded to myth.
But some small vestiges of the old world remain, passed on in the blood of human families. The Inquisition refers to this as the Taint and watches such families closely for any emergence of inhuman traits.
Many human families carry traces of inhuman blood; for most people it amounts to no more than a peculiar physical trait, or perhaps an unusual talent. But in exceedingly rare cases, more of the old kind shows through.
There are seven identifiable bloodlines that carry on these ancient, inhuman lineages. To the left are details on each of these seven, as well as pure blood humans.
