Jonharin Tallander
Lord Jonharin Tallander, Head of His House (a.k.a. Jon)
Jon Tallander was an Eldessarn nobleman from Eldesrand who lived around the coming of the Sixth or Current Age of Azocar.
- Nominally, Jon is just another member of the Lords Council in Eldesrand. In practice, however, he is one of the king's closest handful of advisors. Many who have more power than he "on paper" have much less in reality.
- Jon Tallander is in his late 70's but still quite vital. He's a stout six foot, two inches tall and his dark brown hair shows almost no sign of graying. He keeps himself clean-shaven because any beard he grows would be much whiter and more belie his age. His tan skin and dark eyes are indicative of his regional heritage.
- His reputation as a sourpuss is widely known. "Jon Tallander never smiles", many have been known to whisper. It's a reputation that is well-earned. Sir Jon is serious to a fault. He's not given to whimsy or flights of fancy and almost never acts on impulse. To him, all decisions should be carefully considered and choices should come with irrefutable evidence to defend them.
- Jon spent over two decades in military service to the kingdom and only retired when his father died, leaving the charge of "Lord Tallander" to him.
- Sir Jonharin Tallander only married after he retired from military service to become Lord. As a result, he's nearly four decades older than his oldest children and nearly six decades older than his youngest.
- Lord Tallander has almost no true friends, just acquaintances. The exception, however, makes up for this dearth of close confidants. Lord and Sir Aganon Eldesreld, King of Eldessar and Jon Tallander have been close friends since the years they shared in military service, first at academy and then on the field. Aggie, as the king's friends call him, leaned heavily on his friend for his counsel during the great wars. He was particularly reliant on Jon for managing the brutal, nearly two-years long siege of Eldesrand. Ironically but not surprisingly, Jon Tallander is the one person who refuses to use the king's nickname.
