Gulgorm mines
Purpose / Function
To provide materials for the creation of the many cities and landmarks needed early in Kervia's inception.
History
What started out as the main mines used for Kervia quickly turned into a place of horror. Needing materials to build his new kingdom Eros was quick to sentence individuals a life of mining. When the measly amount of coin being offered wasn't enough Eros started simply demanding individuals dedicate their lives to mining. Needing the dwarves skills for construction they were typically not used for mining. Many other races within the kingdom either couldn't see in the dark or didn't have the endurance to work all day in the mines. Except for one creature, The Ratfolk. The ratfolk have an amazing set of abilities. Not only can they see in the dark, they are hearty strong creatures for their size, they are also incredibly flexible and dexterous. Unfortunately for the ratfolk this was a death sentence to be sent to work within the mines. They were treated like slaves and worked to the point of death and exhaustion. This treatment went on for almost a year until a revolt was planned by the ratfolk. The ratfolk did what they could to gather weapons and armor but at the end of the day they were no match for the dragonkin that watched over them. The ratfolk were sick and exhausted while the dragonkin were well fed and rested. It took only a few minutes for the ratfolk to begin being slaughtered. Dozen of ratfolk fell within minutes and as the floor was bathed with blood a voice rang out throughout the mines. The voice of a women shouting that she is the watcher of all things big and small, and under her watch these creatures would not be harmed. The voice let out a blinding light that left all the dragonkin helpless while the ratfolk escaped. Appalled by the treatment of smaller beings The voice cursed the dragonkin turning them into some twisted mutation of a wererat and a dragonborn. This new creature turned violent and almost unintelligible. They hate light and feast on any flesh they can to survive. Fearing the creatures escape Eros ordered the mines be sealed and turned into the tomb for whatever these beasts are. The voice is now known as the Goddess The Watcher. Worshipped by many kindred spirits and mistreated individuals or races. Many Drow, Ratfolk, and beastfolk worship her.
